Ex-India spinner Harbhajan Singh has in the past week gone viral on social media after a scene from Star Sports’ Caught & Bold show. Harbhajan was given the question of whether he wanted to have dinner with current Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam or West Indies great Brian Lara, and the clip shows him rolling on the floor laughing.
First up, Harbhajan was given the option of either having cricketer Brian Lara or Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, and without a second thought, he went for the former.
It was an outstanding video that quickly went viral on social media thanks to Harbhajan’s real reactions, which made the bowler even more endearing. The show had a feeling of humor associated with his laughter, and this contributed to bringing a lighter side to the cricketing fraternity, which has a lot of serious analysis.
The T20 World Cup’s Early Exit of Pakistan

On the other hand, the Pakistani camp has been anything but merry; there is a raw tension in the air. It is worth recalling that the PCB tried to rid Pakistan cricket of corruption recently when the present cricket team, led by Babar Azam, performed dismally in the just concluded T20 World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the first round.
Unfortunately, it was a roller coaster ride, and what they achieved on the field and tracks were below their perceived potential. The most staggering of those was their defeat at the hands of the newcomers in the USA, which left the cricket fraternity surprised. This loss was considered to be one of the reasons they were knocked out of the tournament in the early stages.
Making it even worse for Pakistan, New Zealand suffered a humbling loss to its arch-southern Asian rival, India. They were unable to chase a target of 120, which is a clear indicator of the problematic team and its frailties. Back-to-back losses frustrated the audience and stirred up issues regarding preparedness, planning, and performance during the championship.
Babar Azam’s Post-Tournament Remarks
In the aftermath of Pakistan’s disappointing campaign, captain Babar Azam reflected on the team’s performance and the factors contributing to their early exit. In a candid and introspective statement, Babar said, “I think with the bowling, conditions suited our bowlers. But in batting, we made a few mistakes in the matches against the USA and India. When you lose wickets, the pressure is on you.”
Babar’s comments underscored the team’s batting failures, which were glaring in critical moments of the tournament. He acknowledged the collective disheartenment among the players and fans due to their poor performance. “Sir, I’ve said this before that everyone is disheartened because of our performance. We didn’t play as a team.
This is not because of an individual, as we lost as a team. It’s not just the captain. I cannot play for every player as there are 11 players. They are in the World Cup because each player has an assigned role. The execution wasn’t there, and we had to sit down and work out what needed to be done. I accept that we didn’t play as a team.
These remarks highlight Babar’s understanding of the broader issues plaguing the team, from individual performances to collective teamwork. His recognition of the need for better execution and teamwork is a crucial first step toward addressing the problems.
