Liverpool could lose one (or two) important players in the summer transfer window to the Saudi Pro League. Many Premier League legends and up-and-coming players have decided to forego the PL for another year and make the switch to head to Saudi Arabia.
Whether the players decide for financial reasons, as the Saudi teams offer hefty contracts, or personal reasons, like they are at the end of their career, the Saudi league has been one of the hottest transfer leagues in the last two years.
And, unfortunately, the Reds look like they could lose a talented winger to a Saudi side this transfer window. Liverpool is known for having numerous wingers and attackers who can rotate into the top three up front. Sometimes, this is a great strategy, as it keeps people fresh and ready to go. Other times, it can lead to frustration about a lack of playing time or opportunities in a game.
It seems as though one winger might head elsewhere to make more money and be guaranteed that he will step on the field every single game.

No, we are not talking about Salah – although that could potentially happen in the upcoming years. We are talking about Luis Diaz, the talented, special, fast, and electric Colombian winger who Liverpool purchased just a couple of years ago. Since he made his debut for the senior team, he has captivated the hearts of Liverpool fans who enjoy his work rate, tenacious attitude, and creative dribbling.
Diaz has consistently stood out as one of the best performers, at least as far as consistent energy and willpower go. He makes mistakes, but he hustles, works hard, runs fast, scores goals, and puts in tough tackles. He is everything that a Liverpool player should be.
But, there were times during his last couple of years when he has come off the bench, out of favor in terms of starting Salah, Nunez, Jota, Elliott, or another winger over him. Plus, Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool means that players who were recruited by the beloved manager are now fearing for their playing time under the new gaffer, Arne Slot.
Similar to Diaz, Joe Gomez, a young and versatile defender/holding midfielder who has made appearances off the bench for Liverpool numerous times over the last couple of years, could also be going to Saudi Arabia. Just like Salah last year, Gomez was an option to head to the Saudi League, but decided to stay in Merseyside – and it was a good choice, as he made more than 50 appearances for the Reds last season.

Luis Diaz at Liverpool
Diaz transferred from Porto to Liverpool back in 2021 and made thirteen appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists during his debut season (where he was only around for half of the year). He then went on to make 17 appearances in the 2022-2023 season, earning four goals and two assists on the year.
This year was his best at the Reds, where Diaz made 37 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing five assists to his teammates. He also featured in seven Europa League matches, contributing three goals, four EFL Cup matches, adding another goal and three UEFA Champions League matches, where he scored yet another goal.
Will Diaz stay in England or will he move to another league? Only time will tell.
