Rahul Dravid Clearly Announces Departure as India’s Head Coach After T20 World Cup

At a major disclosure, much to the dismay of the ICC, the management, and the fans, the head coach of the Indian senior men’s cricket team. Rahul Dravid announced that the T20 World Cup 2024 would be his last tournament in that capacity.

The positions are as follows (source: various press interviews). Coach, John Wright, with the contract ending at the conclusion of the ICC event, with Dravid stating that he will not renew his term as a spinner.

Despite the allegedly realized plans for the team at the ACC Twenty20 League, Rahul Dravid mentioned some organizational clashes and personal circumstances that led him to stay out of the running for the head’s position. At a pre-tournament briefing session with the media in New York ahead of the Indian cricket team’s opening match against Ireland.

Rahul Dravid, working as the coach of the Indian team, termed the tournament crucial and underlined his pleasure in being assigned the reigns of the Indian cricket team.

To conclude, asserting that the termination of his tenure as the coach ended his dream job, Rahul Dravid also underlined the joy he had in coaching India. He praised the current team fondly, calling them “a great bunch of boys. ”

However, Rahul Dravid categorically stated that while he will be stepping down, he will leave no stone unturned to give his best as a team India player till the T20 World Cup.

 Rahul Dravid’s Coaching Tenure

Having formally become the head coach of the Indian team in November 2021. By replacing Ravi Shastri, Rahul Dravid guided the Indian cricket team through different tournaments. Such as the T20 World Cup that took place in 2022, the World Test Championship that is slated for 2023, and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Initially, it was said that Dravid’s contract was to expire after the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled for 2023, but the latter went on to agree to an extension until the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Successes Under Dravid’s Leadership

On this background, India had been achieving marvelous results in the bilateral series during Dravid’s captaincy across the formats. The team emerged winners in 14 of the 17 bilateral T20I series, while the ODI and Test formats showcased thrilling encounters as well. Since his appointment as coach of the Indian team.

Dravid has seen his side overpower rivals in different playing zones, including the clinching series victories in England and New Zealand, among others.
