Cleveland Guardians Having Spectacular 2024 Season

The Cleveland Guardians Steven Kwan is on a power surge this season.

With a one-run victory at home against the Washington Nationals on Saturday, the Cleveland Guardians remained one of the hottest teams in all of Major League Baseball. They have won 15 of their last 18 games. Cleveland had a stretch in May when they won 12 of 13 games and eight games in a row. The way the Cleveland Guardians have played as of late it comes as a shock when they actually lose a game.

On this winning streak, the Guardians’ only losses came on May 15 on the road against the Texas Rangers, and on May 27 and May 29 on the road against the Colorado Rockies. The Cleveland Guardians are also riding a nine-game home winning streak.

How long will the Guardians be able to keep up their winning ways?

Cleveland  Guardians Season Summary

The Guardians(39-19) have a five-game lead in the American League Central over the slumping Kansas City Royals. Cleveland has the third-best record in Major League Baseball and the second-best record in the American League behind only the red-hot New York Yankees.

Cleveland has an above-average offense this season. They are 16th in batting average, 10th in home runs, and third in home runs. The Guardians offense is led by Third Baseman Jose Ramirez, who is putting together an MVP-caliber 2024 campaign. He is leading the team in many offensive categories and is fifth in the league with 16 home runs and leading MLB with 57 RBI. Ramirez had a whopping 11 home runs in May. The Guardians have been dominant over their last 18 games with only four of their victories being by one run.

Cleveland’s pitching staff has also gotten off to a great start this regular season. They are sixth in ERA, fourth in strikeouts, and sixth in opposing batting average. Their pitching staff is led by Starting Pitcher Logan Allen who is 6-3 this season. Closer Emmanuel Clase is tied for the league lead with 14 saves while Relief Pitcher Scott Barlow is fourth in the league with 14 holds. Clase is having a great 2024 season as he has converted 18 of his 21 save opportunities this season.

Cleveland’s 2024 Success Comes As Bit Of A Surprise

The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the most consistent teams of the last decade but failed to make the MLB Playoffs in two of the last three seasons. They have still qualified for the postseason in five of the last eight seasons. Manager Terry Francona stepped away from the team following the 2023 season and 11 years at the helm. Former major leaguer Stephen Vogt took Francona’s place and has done a masterful job thus far this season. He is currently the runaway favorite for the Major League Baseball Manager of the Year Award.
