After a seven-year pursuit, Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid has been football’s worst-kept secret. The player has always maintained his desire to play for the Los Blancos, while the Spanish giants have always admired his talents.
With their 15th Champions League crown now secured, the club swiftly announced their new marquee signing. As details of this move become clearer, there’s no doubt that it’ll have a significant impact on the World of football.

Three seasons ago, it seemed like Mbappe was on his way to Real Madrid. The Spanish club had submitted a €200 million offer, and the player was keen to force his way. However, after intervention from club sponsors and French President Emmanuel Macron, the forward made a U-turn.
Fast-forward to last month when Kylian Mbappe announced that he would not be signing a new contract with French Giants Paris Saint Germain. As a free agent, he’d be free to sign for whichever club he pleases. However, for the 25-year-old French striker, there was only going to be one club: Real Madrid.
Reports now indicate that Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid have already reached an agreement, and the player has signed the contract. Of course, the details of what the contract entails are not yet clear, but the announcement is expected to be made public this coming week.
However, with the star expected to shift focus to the Euros and possibly the Olympics, his unveiling will likely occur in mid-July.

Given that Mbappe will be out of contract, Real Madrid will not have to buy him from PSG. Even still, securing arguably the World’s best player will not be free or cheap.
Reports from earlier in the year indicate that the club and player had already agreed on terms for a five-year contract. While the transfer would be free, the player will receive a signing-on fee of over $100 million.
Considering the massive pay package he had at his former club, Kylian is expected to have a reduced salary. Of course, it’s still expected to be among or even higher than other top players.

Since signing for PSG from Monaco as an up-and-coming talent, Kyllian Mbappe has grown from strength to strength. He came in as Neymar’s understudy and is now leaving as the club’s greatest player ever.
In the seven years he’s been in Paris, Kylian Mbappe has scored 256 goals in 308 appearances. In his last campaign as a Parisian, he scored 44 goals in 48 appearances. If you add assists to the tally, Kylian Mbappe has a goal contribution of over a goal a game across his PSG spell.
