Kohli

Legendary Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has opined that he would like to see Indian batsman Virat Kohli playing as an opener along with Indian T20I cricket captain Rohit Sharma at the ICC T20 World Cup. Being of the same view, Ganguly still focused on the same spirit he admired in Kohli during the IPL 2024 season.

Originally, the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup was scheduled to be held in Australia, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19,. The tournament was postponed and is now scheduled to be held from June 1 to June 29, 2024, in the USA and the Caribbean. This year’s IPL saw Indian batsman Kohli open for RCB and end the tournament as the winner of the Orange Cap.

Ganguly strongly opines that Kohli, in his current form that he demonstrated in the IPL, is again going to be very crucial for India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup. There is little doubt that I would open with Virat and Rohit. It was kind of like Coronation Street, and I want them to bowl like the Mumbai Indians in the second half of the IPL as well. I want Virat to bat. The freedom of batting is an instant for him.

As expected, he is a good player for his side, but the Indians may achieve victory only if Virat is able to forward like he used to do during the IPL. Primarily, I would prefer Virat and Rohit in the initial lineup of the team. ”
