Dejan Joveljic’s Double Guides LA Galaxy Past FC Dallas for a Home 3-1 Win

The LA Galaxy desperately needed a win – and they had one key player who understood the assignment and stepped up when his team needed him the most. LA Galaxy Was facing off against FC Dallas this Wednesday night to try and get a clean sheet, earn three points on the board, and walk away with a win from a tough mid-week game.

Fortunately for the Californian team, their striker was able to net a brace to propel them ahead to win the game 3-1 at the final whistle. The Galaxy have performed well this season, with their latest win on Wednesday night giving them a 7-2-7 record that means they are right in the middle of the table.

LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas – How It Happened

Although the LA Galaxy won and appears to be doing better according to their record, they have certainly had a tough time this season. Their win on Wednesday night is only their second win in their last seven games, but it does mean they remain unbeaten on their home turf. A 7-2-7 record is nothing to scoff at, but seven losses in only 16 games played isn’t necessarily fighting for a top-three spot on the ladder in the MLS.

But, FC Dallas was in an even worse position going into the match – and they still are. FC Dallas is now 3-7-4 and was hoping to secure their first away win of the entire season. During all away matches this year, they have only earned two points with two draws.

The man of the match surely had to be LA Galaxy’s striker, Joveljic. He didn’t waste any time with getting on the scoresheet and propelling his team into the lead with a fourth-minute goal that came from the penalty spot, ensuring that his calm and collected nerves could help him slot the ball into the side netting.

Then, he stepped up with confidence to take the penalty kick on the spot in the 66th minute. He isn’t one to shy away from tense moments or big games, so his choosing to take the penalty wasn’t a surprise to anyone on the team.

Joveljic almost had a third to secure his hat trick in the 32nd minute off of a rebound from the FC Dallas goalkeeper, but the entire play was called back for offside after the striker had found the back of the net.

He wasn’t the only goal-scorer in this game for LA Galaxy. The California team can be happy with how much they are scoring in recent games, as Puig added another one to his tally for the season after adding another goal in stoppage time at the very end of the game off of a brilliant solo effort.

LA Galaxy Looking Forward

LA Galaxy currently sit in second place, even with seven losses on the season. Real Salt Lake is in first place on the ladder and LAFC is close behind the Galaxy, just one point behind the second-place squad. LA Galaxy will be looking to key players, like Puig to continue providing assists, Joveljic and Pec to keep scoring as the attackers on the front line, and Caceres and Yoshida keeping clean sheets at the back on defense.

Their next match against Chicago will surely be one to watch, as Chicago is towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference in the MLS – getting another win here for LA Galaxy could see them leapfrog into first place on the Western Conference ladder.
