“The Whole World Knows I Beat Dricus” Sean Strickland Speaks Out On UFC 297 Controversy

At the UFC 302 press conference, Sean Strickland once again talked about his controversial decision to lose to Dricus Du Plessis for the UFC Middleweight Championship.

The UFC 302 press conference was held on May 30th, 2024, and the PPV will take place on June 1st. The co-main event of the card will be a middleweight fight between former UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland and #7 ranked Paulo Costa.

At the press conference, Sean Strickland was asked about his thoughts on the decision of his last fight at UFC 297. He has already made his thoughts on the decision clear in the past, but it’s clear that he’s still pretty upset about his title being taken away from him in a fight that he believed he won.

At the UFC press conference, a reporter told Sean Strickland that he’s risen to the top before, and asked him how he will do that once more and eventually find himself with the title again. He then responded with “The whole world knows I beat Dricus”, and continued to talk about the decision loss.

He explained how he went to Canada and that he got robbed in that “dirty ******* country.” He also said the fight was rigged by the judges, and he was going to beat Paulo Costa and then win his belt back. This response was met with enormous cheers as it seemed like the fans agreed with Sean’s take on the decision.

Costa then responded to Strickland’s comments and explained that he even agreed with some of what Sean said, except for the part where he said he was going to beat him. It now seems clear what Sean’s intentions are after this fight, and he very well could get a rematch if he wins this fight.

Sean Strickland vs Paulo Costa will take place at UFC 302 in the co-main event. The event is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on June 1st, 2024. The main event will be for the UFC Lightweight Championship, as champion Islam Makhachev takes on challenger Dustin Poirier.

Both Strickland and Costa are top-ranked fighters in the middleweight division, each looking to get another championship fight. There is a good chance of Strickland receiving a title shot if he gets a victory this Saturday, but the same can’t be said for Costa who will likely need to get another win before getting his opportunity at the champion.

Strickland and Costa are great strikers, though Sean has proved his striking volume as well as striking defense to be some of the best in the division. Costa is still a great striker in his own right and has also shown to be more well-rounded than Sean, so there are definitely ways for the underdog to get a victory in this bout.

Strickland vs Du Plessis

Sean Strickland Dricus Du Plessis battled for Strickland’s UFC Middleweight Champion at UFC 297 on January 20th, 2024, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. Fans were coming into this fight expecting a war, and that’s exactly what they got. Both Strickland and Dricus battled it out for five rounds and had great moments on the ground and on the feet.

By the end of the bout, it was an extremely close fight that could have gone either way, but it seemed as if there were more fans leaning towards a Strickland win. Despite that, Dricus ended up winning the fight via split decision, as two judges gave him the victory. This decision resulted in Dricus Du Plessis becoming the new UFC Middleweight Champion.

In the coming weeks after this fight, Sean Strickland made it clear that he believed he won the fight and that he was robbed of the win and his title. He also let it be known that he would be coming back for his title, and it seems as if that’s still his stance on the situation.
