Star batter Virat Kohli is the only player from India’s T20 World Cup squad who has yet to join his teammates in the USA. The rest of the 18 players, including four reserves, started their training in New York on Wednesday, but Kohli remains absent.
Kohli was recently seen in Mumbai with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and former India cricketer Zaheer Khan. He reportedly requested an extended break following the grueling two-month-long Indian Premier League. According to reports, there has been no update from the BCCI on his travel status, although he is expected to reach New York by Friday.
Extended Break After IPL
Kohli was recently seen in Mumbai along with his wife Anushka Sharma and former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan. It has been learned that he has asked for an additional leave due to the strenuous two-month-long Indian Premier League (IPL). As of now, there has not been any news from BCCI regarding his travel status,” said ESPNCricinfo.
Kohli last played on May 22 during the IPL Eliminator match, where his team, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was defeated by the Rajasthan Royals.

Expected Arrival on Friday

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), Kohli is expected to arrive in New York on Friday. ”Kohli had taken time off for personal work after RCB’s IPL exit, and it is expected that he will return to the squad by Friday,” the news agency said.
However, there is still hesitation in terms of Kohli’s participation in the only practice match between India and Bangladesh on June 1. The person quoted by the PTI said, “It is not clear if he would be able to take part in the only warm-up game against Bangladesh on Saturday after a long flight. ”

Virat Kohli gave an impressive performance to cement his position as one of the leading batsmen in the world.
