Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal had another dominating performance this afternoon at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He tossed seven innings and surrendered only three hits while punching out eight as the Tigers cruised to an 8-0 victory. Skubal bounced back from his worst outing of the year on May 22 against the Kansas City Royals. He surrendered four earned runs(tied for a season-high) over five innings of work(tied for his fewest innings pitched this season). He was handed his lone loss of the season last week.
Including today’s start, Skubal has surrendered one earned run or fewer in five appearances during the 2024 regular season. Skubal is 7-1 this season with an ERA of 2.01. His seven wins are fourth in the league and his ERA is fifth-best in all of Major League Baseball.
Will Skubal be able to carry this momentum into his next start?
