The talented all-rounder later redeemed himself in the IPL 2024 by leading the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to clinch the IPL trophy. After that, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu took a direct dig at his former skipper Virat Kohli while praising the various players who played their part in helping KKR lift the trophy.

Ambati Rayudu praised the KKR combination and went on to mention Narine, Russell, and Starc as some of the players who had played key roles in enabling their side to clinch the title. He stressed ownership and officiality while claiming nobody owns anything in an individual capacity, and was playing on this team.
This was in indirect juxtaposition to the Orange Cap won by Kohli for being the highest run scorer with 741 runs in the tournament.
“When you want to win the IPL, you don’t run your eyes and wrists for the orange cap, but you use your heads and legs for the trophy, which is more important for the whole team,” Ambati Rayudu noted about the importance of each player in the team.
Previous critiques of RCB management As highlighted earlier, this research is concerned with analyzing the financial performance of RCB and evaluating the effectiveness of its management in the process.

Criticism of RCB Management

It is clear, with the passage of each summer, that RCB are no closer to attaining the trophy, much to the disgust of Ambati Rayudu, who had this to say about their performance. “My heart truly goes out to all the RCB supporters; they have continuously supported the team for many years, though if only the management and the leaders put the team first before self-indulgence.”.

Kohli’s Outstanding Performance
Even as he congratulated Kohli for a stellar IPL 2024, Ambati Rayudu made an indirect jab to his colleague, stating that player records are not necessarily a precursor to a winning team.
Opener Kohli, as a batsman for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), scored a total of 741 runs at an average count of 61. 75 and generously enhanced a marvelous strike rate of 154.70. It is much better than the previous tests and illustrates his progression in his ability to hit the ball well.
The following reasons have some merit, but they seem insufficient to explain Ambati Rayudu’s criticism of the Indian team and his failure to make it to the playing XI during the IPl. Instead, Ambati Rayudu’s remarks highlight the fact that IPL and other such tournaments cannot be won through single heroics. Rather, they require the combined effort of every player in a team.
