West Indies Clinch Thrilling Victory T20I Series Against South Africa

West Indies

In the Third T20I at Sabina Park, the West Indies cricket team left the African mountains stranded in defeat and clinched the series in style with a game to spare. In a successful bid to defend what they scored, the home team hammered an impressive total of 207 runs and showed a dominance that was quite visible on their home ground.

As the T20 World Cup lies ahead of the teams, both Team India and the Australian team will try to take away the mistakes before perfecting their strongholds. For the West Indies team, this series triumph clearly will boost the morale of the players in the future, while for South Africa, a lot of work will be expected in the future challenges.

Roston Chase’s Milestone

West Indies got the fifties from their middle-order mainstay Roston Chase, this being his first T20I fifty for the team. Chasing the target, the West Indies middle order got a newly introduced inning from Chase to drive through to a quality total. His strategy in developing a stroke in particular behind square enabled West Indies to up the ante in the last stage of the innings.

To achieve the target, SA got off to a flier right from the word go, specifically, with Quinton de Kock on the front foot. Upon coming to the crease, de Kock was attacking and fierce, having made a breath-taking 41 of only 17 balls, this earmarked the chase. But for the Proteas, they failed to build momentum in the middle overs as periodic wickets tumbled rapidly.

Nonetheless, there were solid outcomes for some of the countries, specifically South Africa experienced some challenges. Spinner Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers and returned figures of 3 for 22, the best figures in his bowling career. Also, a newcomer, Nqabayomzi Peter chose to bat before demonstrating a great performance where he outplayed some crucial batsmen of the West Indian team.

Concerns for South Africa

South Africa getting another thumping, irrespective of individual performances, fails to make it a better show in T20Is. Concerns with the side could still be pointed out as their middle order and their performance against spin bowling. Nevertheless, the return of talents such as Aiden Markram and David Miller, who were released for the previous T20 competition, might strengthen the team during the T20 World Cup.
