Making a comeback after being out of form, Sanju Samson not only played a super knock but also shared some valuable insights into the factors that led to Rajasthan Royals’s loss against SRH in the IPL 2024 second qualifier. Samson noted that in the middle overs, their inability to effectively deal with the turning ball was the major setback they faced.

Samson expressed his disappointment that there were no aggressive alternatives in the limited overs against spin in Chepuak when the wicket is dry. In the second inning, the pitch was turner, providing ample amount of turn to the slower bowlers, and thus, here we saw that Rajasthan Royals’s right-handed magnitude middle order got into a fix.
The skipper insisted time and again on the need for things like the reverse sweep or new ideas on how to use the crease to disrupt the adversary’s game plan.

While SRH did not field their primary spinners, Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma rose to the occasion, absorbing that pressure. Kumar Sangakkara agreed with Samson, focusing on the fact that the side should always demonstrate a willingness to go after bowlers and be mindful of game situations, especially against quality spinners. Sangakkara admitted that there could be issues arising from a lack of consistent players for games, such as Jos Buttler, and injuries, but pointed out that the team performed well for the entire season.
However, both Samson and Sangakkara expressed the upbeat side of Rajasthan Royals’s campaign after being knocked out of the final. Both Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel deserved a special mention for their performances, and these pivotal performers meant a lucrative career for both the RR franchise and the Indian cricket board.
