Chadi Riad appears to be close to finalizing his transfer to Crystal Palace, where he will pen a five-year contract with the Premier League team. According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has been “verbally” agreed upon for Palace to spend €14 million on the defender.
The transfer is good news for Barcelona, who stand to gain 50% of any transfer and are believed to have a buy-back clause in Riad that will go into force next year.
Riad joins Betis on loan from Barcelona after a successful season there. Despite being expected to return to Xavi’s team this season, he has decided to relocate to England. Crystal Palace had a successful season under new coach Oliver Glasner, and their lineup includes amazing players such as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and Adam Wharton.
Could This Mean the End for Marc Guehi?
Marc Guehi may be leaving Selhurst Park soon as a result of Chadi Riad’s arrival. Manchester United and other Premier League teams are interested in signing him. According to reports, United views Guehi as a backup option for Jarrad Branthwaite in the event that they are unable to persuade Everton to sell with a bid of roughly £55 million.
Guehi, who was yesterday included in England’s tentative squad for Euro 2024 together with his Palace teammates Dean Henderson, Adam Wharton, and Ebenechechi Eze, might fetch up to £65 million from Palace.
