The T20 international match between England and Pakistan in Headingley did not get to be played as all the matches were washed out by rain and no play was possible in the game. This caused a significant concern to the English team meaning that they now will only have 3 warm-up matches before the T20 World Cup begins on the 4th of June. The rainout puts pressure on the remaining games as the team is left with many games at Edgbaston, Cardiff the Oval, and the Caribbean expected without much preparation time.
T20 World Cup warm-up Suffers Washout at Leeds:
The first T20 international match of England against Pakistan held at Headingley was unable to start as it was washed out by rain without even a ball being bowled. Persistent, heavy rain led to the match, due to start at 18:30 EST, being canceled at 17:30.
It then means that England will only have three games in the build-up to the T20 World Cup which will be scheduled to star on the 4th of June.
The second T20 World Cup will be held on Saturday at the Edgbaston, then another T20 at Cardiff on Tuesday, and the final T20 of the series will be held at The Oval on Thursday.
Their preparations will be virtually over when they arrive in Barbados on Friday the 31st of May and they have no official warm-up games in the Caribbean before beginning the tournament against Scotland.
The washout took place soon after some of England’s players returned to the UK last week from IPL, which they had left midway to prepare for this series.
Pakistan’s neighbor and bitter sporting rivals have not featured in a T20 series since a 3-2 series loss to West Indies in December.
