Pakistan Prefer to Bowl First in Opening ODI Against England

Pakistan

Fans look forward to the ICC T20 World Cup being held in Bangladesh next year. Heather Knight, the captain of the England cricket team, says she will be playing in the 50-over World Cup to be held in India next year. Even as franchises globally focus on the T20 format, Pakistan regards the ongoing ODI series against England as.

An opportunity to finally defeat the English side and bag crucial qualification points for the World Cup in the wake of missing out on the qualifier tournament.

This series is important for Pakistan cricket because they will use the opportunity to build a case for their membership in the group of elite test-playing nations. Owing to these two formats of the game being in focus, the cricketing world now looks vibrant and action-packed, promising great cricket spectacles and brilliant moments in the coming days.

England’s dominance in T20s

The last time England played a T20 series against Pakistan, they found little resistance, and the English side won the series 3-0. Opener Danni Wyatt’s magnificent performance in today’s last match proved decisive for the England team. But there was an expected change in the squad as Tammy Beaumont was set to return to cricket and Wyatt would be likely to go a step lower down the playing order.

Sadly, an injury to Wyatt ruled her out of the opening ODI, altering the course of the tussle in England.

Even the absence of Wyatt will not weaken the English side, as they have a great spin attack. Captain Heather Knight faces a tough decision in selecting from their three in-form spinners. These talented cricketers are Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, and Charlie Dean.

England has added another potent seam bowling all-rounder in Kate Cross, which strengthens their bowling lineup. On the other hand, Nat Sciver-Brunt, who has been suffering from a knee injury, will play the role of batswoman.

Pakistan’s Focus on Improvement

Pakistan

Pakistan’s batting remained under pressure in T20Is, and despite victory in ODIs, Nida Dar, the captain, has stated that there is much more to do. The side wants to take confidence from the batting display in the earlier T20I and hopes to take that forward into the three ODI fixtures ahead. Pakistan sees this series as important for their qualification chance in the World Cup, as they aim to qualify for the competition.

When the play starts in Derby, the weather is wet and cold, with occasional haze, gusts of wind, and no precipitation expected. The weather was quite wet and humid, but now the conditions look fairly good for the much-hyped match between England and Pakistan to be played today in the first one-day international.
