The New England Patriots have revealed their 2024 NFL schedule, showing fans they have an international game and a Thursday Night game. New England will start the season off on the road in Cincinnati against the Bengals with a healthy Joe Burrow.
The Patriots will not even have a bye week until week 14 which makes it more harsh for Pats fans. After a nightmare season in 2023, the Patriots will open their new chapter of the franchise with Drake Maye and new head coach Jerod Mayo.
For the Patriots, the goal is to see if Jerod Mayo is the heir to Bill Belichick and could lead Drake Maye and the Pats to a new dynasty.
New England Patriots: Easiest Stretch?
The New England Patriots last season was a disaster and had to go in a new direction firing Bill Belichick. This season is a restart but the schedule this season is difficult for a rebuilding dynasty. There are no easy games in the NFL in this author’s opinion but the first month could be the easiest stretch for them.
The Patriots will be facing the Bengals away, Seahawks, and Jets at home in the first three weeks of the season.
Cincinnati is coming off a disappointing season, and Joe Burrow might not be fully healthy before the season starts. Upsetting a Super Bowl contender would do wonders for the morale in New England.
The New England Patriots is also going to face off against the Seahawks who just hired a new head coach. While both teams have new coaches, Mayo has experience coaching under Belichick and could do well in the match-up. Seattle’s offense is also gonna experience difficulties with Ryan Grubb who the Pats could do well against.
New England has beaten the Jets 15 in their last 16 encounters and could keep it going. Even with the week 18 loss, the Jets have a lot of issues and could be taken advantage of. If the Pats beat their longtime rival, it’ll be good for morale in a rebuilding year. These first three weeks could help determine the Patriots’ season in their rebuild.
New England Patriots: Toughest Stretch
While the first three weeks of the season for the Pats could be an easy stretch, afterward, the season gets harder for the Pats, especially in November.
The New England Patriots will be facing the Titans in Tennessee, the Bears, in Chicago, the Rams at home, and the Dolphins in Miami. Those games will be difficult due to three of them being contenders.
New England will be facing the Titans who are improving their defense by getting L’Jarus Sneed and improving the offense. Even if Will Levis is the quarterback, Tennessee is trusting him for the long-term future.
Another match-up that will be hard is Chicago with the improvements they had made during the last two offseasons. The Bears got Caleb Williams and a new and improved offense and could be a tough outing.
The only home game in November will be against the Rams who are looking to contend for a Super Bowl. While the Rams lost Aaron Donald to retirement, they still have a strong roster.
If that isn’t enough, the Patriots will finish November against the Dolphins in Miami which the Pats haven’t won since 2017. New England will face a tough November if things don’t go right.
New England Patriots: Most Important Games
The most important games for the Patriots in this author’s opinion are simple, week one, week three, and week 16. Those weeks could determine what New England will be this season and next season.
Week one against the Bengals as mentioned before will be the start of a new era for the Patriots and will need to get off to a good start. Even if they lose, the Pats need to see what Jerod Mayo and Drake Maye could do at this level. If it’s encouraging, they could have something special.
Another important game for the New England Patriots this season will be against the Jets in week three at Metlife Stadium. The Patriots could see what their hold in the division could be against a despised foe. This could also be a great game for Drake Maye and the offense against a solid defense.
The last important game for the Pats will be against Buffalo in week 16. This game could have the Pats against their top-divisional opponent and could be crucial in December. It will be a showdown between the future star Drake Maye and the present star Josh Allen. This game will be important for how long it will take for the Patriots to rebuild.
This season is a stepping stone for the long rebuild for the New England Patriots and stepping stone for Patriots fans who are hoping this could lead to a new dynasty very soon.
