Donovan Mitchell will be one of the most talked-about names in the NBA offseason. The Cleveland Cavaliers are down 3-1 in their series with the Boston Celtics, and the rumors are already swirling about what will happen to the All-Star player. All indications are that he wants to be traded, and the teams are already gathering their offers. NBA insider Brian Windhorst was on ESPN’s Get Up this morning and revealed there are two teams who already have offers ready.

Windhorst revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets already have offers ready for the former All-Pro.
“I’m trying to walk the line, because I don’t want anybody to freak out in my hometown of Cleveland, but there a number of teams that have their offers ready. They’re ready.”
He said this “absolutely” includes the Lakers and went on to say that while the Knicks are still focused on this season, the Nets are in the mix for Donovan Mitchell. It isn’t a guarantee he is traded. Owner Dan Gilbert said about a month ago that he expects Mitchell to sign an extension. However, if he truly wants out, the value the Cavaliers can get back could be too much to ignore.
What Will The Offers Look Like?
The Lakers offer for Donovan Mitchell will likely eat up first-round draft capital for years. Already, the team is sending many picks out to other teams. With LeBron James on the team, the pressure is there to win now. If the Lakers do make an offer, it will likely completely mortgage their future for a shot at a title in the next two years.
The Nets are interesting. They have picks from the Phoenix Suns, which look more attractive after how this season ended. Brooklyn also has some interesting young pieces that the Cavaliers could covet. This deal will likely not include Mikal Bridges, as the team would hope to build around him and Donovan Mitchell.
While there are only two teams right now, expect more teams to be involved in the Donovan Mitchell sweepstakes. He is a premier scorer in the NBA and could boost the championship odds for any team. While this season is still gearing up for an exciting finish, it is never too early to start looking toward the offseason.
