Is The #9 Harry Kane ‘Curse’ Real? Ex Spurs’ Forward Suffers Devastating Loss

Harry Kane is one of the most highly lauded strikers in the footballing world. He has scored numerous goals as a Tottenham striker, represented England in major tournaments, and has since moved on to become one of the most prolific players in the German Bundesliga. But, that doesn’t mean that he has won dozens of trophies to fill up his current club’s cabinets or his hallways back at home.

There is a ‘rumor’ swirling around that Harry Kane has a curse. Despite being one of the best strikers in the world, and having been in fine form for the last 8+ years, he has a fairly empty trophy collection to show for it.

Harry Kane and The Curse

One of the most recent examples of the curse of Harry Kane was apparent just yesterday in the semifinal of the Champions League against the La Liga winners, Real Madrid. Harry Kane led his team, Bayern Munich, out to face off against Carlo Ancelotti’s intense squad on Wednesday night to see if they could win on aggregate and progress to the CL finals at Wembley on June 1st.

Davies netted a fantastic goal in the 68th minute, and it all looked like things were going upwards for Bayern. But, Joselu had other plans in mind. The lethal Real Madrid striker scored twice in just three minutes to see Madrid claim the victory and win 4-3 on aggregate. Harry Kane could only look on in shock as he was denied yet another final game or trophy.

Even though Madrid had 19 shots, seven shots on target, 58% possession, and 635 passes, they couldn’t find a way past the Bayern keeper – that is, until the 88th minute. Two goals in the last three minutes of regular play saw Madrid breeze past Harry Kane and his team to secure a spot in the showdown in London against the other German team, Borussia Dortmund.

Why is Harry Kane So Unlucky?

Harry Kane might be one of the best Number 9s to ever grace the field, but that doesn’t mean championships are just handed to him. His work rate, prolific finishing, creative passing, and aerial ability have made him one of the most highly sought-after strikers, but even hard work and talent can’t win the Champions League trophy.

Harry Kane was subbed off in this crucial game with just six minutes left on the clock – with the manager, Thomas Tuchel, no doubt thinking that Davies’ goal would see Bayern win and head to the CL final without any worries.

But, as soon as Harry Kane left the field, everything went wrong. Joselu scored just three minutes later – and then again three minutes after that. Kane could only look on in disbelief from the bench as Manuel Neuer dropped a shot from Vinicius Jr., it landing perfectly right in front of the waiting Joselu who was there to pounce on the ball.

These two minutes sum up his career – he has played under eight managers in the last three years, which has no doubt made it hard for him to gel and find his groove in different teams. He has won the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Premier League Golden Boot, Premier League Playmaker of the Season, and other accolades – but has never won the PL itself.

Harry Kane – how can he overlook his never-ending spell of bad luck?
