Chelsea FC is already in trouble after ending up lower on the Premier League table than they had originally thought. Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues’ manager, could not get Chelsea within the top four in the previous weeks, leading to internal issues within the camp and struggles for players, coaches, and ownership staff.
Plus, the team has even more to worry about now that it has been confirmed one of their key midfielders will miss the remaining games of the season after undergoing groin surgery.
Chelsea FC Midfielder Will Sit Out the Rest of the 2023-2024 Season
Chelsea Football Club has released the following statement regarding Enzo Fernandez.

Nobody wants to be injured, especially a professional player who makes a living by playing well, getting minutes on the field, and performing in every aspect of the game. It is a terrible feeling not to be able to help your teammates or do what you love on the pitch.
This is what has happened to Enzo Fernandez, a gifted midfielder who plays for Chelsea FC. The Argentine player has had a rough go this season with the Blues, suffering from illness and setbacks throughout the campaign.
Fernandez suffered a painful hernia in December, ruling him out of a few key games around the holiday season. He battled back and has been a regular for Pochettino’s side throughout the entire season.
But, a lingering groin issue and fitness concerns led Fernandez to take the advice of his club and undergo groin surgery to have him back and in good shape before next year begins.
‘Enzo Fernandez has today undergone successful surgery on a groin issue and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of Chelsea’s 2023-24 season.’
Chelsea FC issued a statement to clear up any confusion regarding Fernandez’s second-half substitution in the latest game vs. Arsenal. The young midfielder will no doubt have numerous playing years ahead of him, so getting this issue taken care of as soon as possible is good for the longevity of the athlete.
Chelsea Looking Forward
Chelsea FC are not doing too well in the Premier League at the moment. They are currently sitting in ninth place, just above the half-way line in the ladder – this is a much lower position than the Blues are used to in their run in Premier League football.
Plus, the stress will only build as they face off against fourth-place Villa this weekend. Aston Villa has shocked everyone and captured a fourth-place spot going into the last few rounds of the season, showing what positive managerial tendencies can do.
Chelsea drew against Sheffield United two weeks ago, causing everyone (even the Sheffield United fans) to gasp in shock after the 90 minutes were up. Sheffield is in dead last and will almost certainly be relegated. Drawing against a bottom-placed team is a terrible result for a team that should be fighting for a Europa spot.
But, after a tough week, Chelsea bounced back and absolutely destroyed Everton 6-0. A fantastic hat trick from Cole Palmer saw him in the race for the Golden Boot and increase the team’s confidence once more.
However, good things don’t last forever. Arsenal FC took their chance and thrashed Chelsea with a 5-0 defeat. After scoring six goals the week before, it is shocking how inconsistent Chelsea FC is this season.
