The UFC has confirmed that UFC 304 will be held in the newly opened Co-op Live in Manchester, England. The event will take place on July 27th, 2024, and will be taking place during the standard UFC event time (10:00 EST). Currently, the company has multiple Champions who are from England, so fans will likely see at least one of them on this card. England has also seen many successful British fighters as of right now, especially in terms of recent success.
Here are some of the UFC’s top British fighters as of 2024 who have a good chance of making this UFC 304 card.
UFC 304 Main Event: Leon Edwards
The current Welterweight Champion, Leon Edwards, could very likely fight on the main event of this Manchester card. The king of the 170-pound division was originally born in Kingston, Jamaica, however, he grew up in Birmingham, England. He also represents England as his official nationality in the UFC.
If Leon was to main event UFC 304, it would likely be against #2 contender Belal Muhammad. Belal is someone who has dominated the top welterweights in his last 5 fights, including Gilbert Burns, Stephen Thompson, and Vicente Luque.
The current Welterweight Champion defeated Colby Covington via decision in his last outing. He was able to show his takedown defense strength which is something he is likely bound to showcase once again if he was to fight a wrestling specialist like Belal Muhammad.
This fight will most likely be the main event of this UFC 304 card as long as everything goes right.
Tom Aspinall
Another English champion who is making waves right now is the Interim Heavyweight Champion, Tom Aspinall. Aspinall won the interim title after defeating Sergei Pavlovich in the first round via knockout in their UFC 295 fight.
After his win, he’s been consistently calling out Heavyweight Jon Jones, but it’s been made clear that Jones wants no part of Aspinall and his tremendous skills on the feet and the ground.
If Aspinall is put on the UFC 304 card, he will likely be facing Curtis Blaydes. Blaydes recently defeated top contender Jailton Almeida at UFC 299 via 2nd round TKO. He and Aspinall have fought in the past but Aspinall got injured early in the fight which allowed for a Blaydes win. It would be interesting to see these two get in the octagon with hopefully 0 asterisks on whoever wins this time around.
Michael “Venom” Page (MVP)
The newest British sensation to make his way into the UFC is none other than Michael Page. Prior to his debut at UFC 299, Page had a record of 21-2, most of which he amassed during his time in Bellator. The high-volume fighter had a very anticipated debut in the UFC against Kevin Holland, as fans were excited to see how MVP would perform on the big stage. Page ended up dominating Holland in their 3-round fight, as he won the fight via unanimous decision.
He is currently ranked #13 in the welterweight division. Neil Magny, Sean Brady, and Geoff Neal are all ranked fighters who currently don’t have a bout set up and can be great opponents for MVP.
However, none of those fights seem nearly as intriguing as Michael “Venom” Page vs Stephen “Wonderboy” Thomspon. Both of these fighters are top-tier kickboxers who are also considered legends in the sport of MMA, and the most important part is that they would give the fans a fight that would make their money’s worth.
It would be great to see MVP fight in front of his England crowd if he is put on the UFC 304 card in Manchester.
Paddy Pimblett
Another fighter that could be on the UFC 304 card would be UK’s Paddy Pimblett. Pimblett is someone who has been undefeated in the promotion up to this point but hasn’t been able to find his way in the lightweight rankings just yet. In his last fight, he was able to defeat legend Tony Ferguson via unanimous decision, but that wasn’t enough for him to enter the top 15.
Pimblett’s next fight will likely be against a ranked opponent, whether that be Bobby Green, Rafael Dos Anjos, or maybe even someone in the top 10 such as Renato Moicano. Either way, it seems clear that if Pimblett wins his next fight, he will see himself in the rankings. It would also be a great moment for him to fight in front of his hometown crowd at UFC 304.
