Green Bay Packers Sign Former 1st Round Offensive Tackle To Deal

2024 Green Bay Packers Outlook

The Green Bay Packers surprised many people in 2023. They were one of the youngest teams in NFL history and made it to the second round of the playoffs. One position they have historically been strong at is the offensive line. Last year was no different. However, they have some depth issues. Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom have been great, but if one of them goes down, the Packers will be in trouble. Before the draft, they added a veteran piece on the line. Former first-round pick Andre Dillard has signed a deal with the Packers.

Green Bay Packers Sign OT Andre Dillard

Andre Dillard was selected 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent last year with the Tennessee Titans, playing in all 16 games and starting ten. Dillard signed a three-year, $29 million deal last offseason, and the Titans hoped he would be their starting left tackle in the short term. It didn’t go well. According to PFF, he had the worst pass-blocking efficiency of any tackle participating in at least 330 passing plays.

For the Green Bay Packers, this isn’t much of a concern. They don’t need him to be a star left tackle. He will likely take the swing tackle position that Yosh Nijman had the past few years before he left for Carolina in free agency. He can provide depth and be coached by the coaching staff.

There are a lot of fans and analysts who are high on the Packers this season. Jordan Love and the offense looked good last year, but now they have another year under their belt. The defense got a new leader after Joe Barry was fired. In a weak NFC conference, many are wondering whether the Packers could make a run.

The signing of Andre Dillard will help tremendously. This team lacks veterans, so even if Dillard doesn’t play a ton on the field, his presence in the locker room will be welcomed. While many teams are focusing solely on the NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers are filling out their roster with quality fringe players. Can this team take down the Lions in the NFC North and continue their dominance of the division?
