Manchester United 6 Former Superstars are the Big Ten Hag Critics

Manchester United coach Ten Hag during Bournemouth game

Manchester United has been shaken by a lot of inconsistencies this season. Expectations of the fans had been tilting towards title contention at the beginning of the season. This is because of their 3rd position finish last season. Alongside this is also the Carabao Cup title win. It looked promising until now. As it stands they are scrounging to qualify for European football.

Erik Ten Hag being the coach has been the culprit for their dismal performance this season. A lot of questions have been asked about his playing style coupled with the team’s management. However, it would be understandable if the questions were from the press and fans alone. But it seems former Manchester United superstars have also been heavily fueling the questions.

The appointment of the Dutch almost two years ago ignited a lot of hope. The fact he came from a successful Ajax team gave the Red Devils confidence.

His Ajax team had won their league several times. Got to the Champions League semi-finals, wherein they ousted the Giants along the way. The players that came out of that team became stars in other big clubs.

All this gave Manchester United strong hope. But somehow it became a different case.
Ten Hag arrived to coach a broken Manchester team. Their confidence was dying. He bought a couple of players along the way to boost the condition, and it worked in the first season.

Moreover, they had some underlying setbacks. They had some horrible losses conceding a high margin of goals in the season. Additionally, one thing was noticed. Ten Hag had been known for possession football in Ajax. On getting to Old Trafford, he had switched to sitting back. Despite all this, the trophy they won and the top 4 finish covered it.

The 2nd season came and the underlying factors became a big mess. The Red Devils started experiencing massive setbacks. From big injury woes, player misbehavior, and poor match performance, to conceding high amounts of goals. It became worse when they got evicted in the Champions League in the last position.

As it stands they are 7th on the league table with 6 games remaining.

A lot from the media has constantly been said about the Dutch. But the pressure has become even worse. Manchester United Ex players soon started partaking in the criticism.

Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, and Owen Hargreaves have been on his neck. So far they have been known to be his main critics. They’ve claimed he has been clueless. His in-game tactics have been poor. Some of them even wondered whether he ever had a plan for every game. Additionally, he was also slammed for poor management of big players. They’ve highlighted all this with hopes of seeing something better in the team. As it stands only time will tell whether there will be improvement. Moreover, the time is short!

More Tasks Ahead of Manchester United

There are six games left for the League to be a wrap. Manchester United are 13 points behind top four with a game in hand. Their chances of entering the top four are extremely low. Notwithstanding, they’ll hope for a miracle. Their next game will be at the FA Cup against Coventry. A few days later they’ll be hosting Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
