Dallas Stars 2024 Playoff Preview

The Dallas Stars locked in their spot for the Stanley Cup Playoffs by winning the division. They maintained a four-point lead over the Vancouver Canucks for the top position in the Western Conference. Last season, they lost to the eventual cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Finals. Will the Dallas Stars be able to push through to the final this season?

Are The Dallas Stars Ready For The Playoffs

As the Dallas Stars’ season ends, they have gone 15-5 in their last twenty games. Starting goaltender Jake Oettinger had a shakey regular season, but the height of his game has been so good that he still posted fantastic numbers for the season. He went 4-1 in his past 5 games, including two shutouts. 

The Stars have incredible scoring depth. Five players on the team have over 60 points on the season, with another five over 50. None of these ten players are 20-year-old Logan Stankoven, who has 14 points while only playing in 22 games. With elite goaltending, scoring depth, and a solid defensive unit, this team has everything it takes to win a Stanley Cup. Will they be able to make it through a stacked Western Conference to accomplish this goal?

Who Can Win The Conn Smythe For Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars have a long list of players who are very capable of taking home extra hardware in the Conn Smythe. The betting favorites will certainly be goaltender Jake Oettinger and forwards Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz. All of whom are very capable of winning the award. Veteran forward Joe Pavelski has played in over 180 playoff games, 3 playoff goals, and no Stanley Cup ring over his 15 seasons, so he will do everything he can to help will this team to a championship. 

Matt Duchene is another veteran who has a lot to prove after the way he left Nashville. Two youngsters will be looking to make their mark in the playoffs as well. Both Wyatt Johnston and Logan Stankoven have short careers, but that hasn’t stopped them from having massive impacts on this team. They have the talent and should have some favorable matchups. As long as the Stars reach the final, they can take home the Conn Smythe. 

Dallas Stars Path To Stanley Cup

The Dallas Stars will have a tough time reaching the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs because the Western Conference is packed with elite talent. Their first-round match-up is against the Vegas Golden Knights. Once they get past the defending champions, the Stars would have to get through at least one other Stanley Cup favorite, if not two. If Dallas can maneuver its way to the final, it will likely be the favorite over anyone from the Eastern Conference; the question is, can they get there?
