Bayern Munich has been experiencing a rough season. Their performance in a lot of games has been below par. Comparing their past seasons in which most teams had feared them to now seems widely different.
Although it hasn’t been overly awful, it has just been lower than the normal standards set by the club. Their below-par performance started when they initially lost to Leipzig 3-0 in the DFL Super Cup final. Right now they are 16 points behind league leaders, having lost a series of games. They’ve also been eliminated from DFB Pokal. Now they are about to face a red-hot Arsenal in the Champions League. With their poor form, the only option for Coach Thomas Tuchel to outsmart the Gunners is to make use of experience.
Bayern Munich need to use experience to edge past Arsenal
It has been years since the Arsenal side had played in the Champions League. The last time they played they were evicted in a ruthless fashion by this same side. Now they are about to face them again. No doubt there’ll be nerves, especially from the Gunners side. Thomas Tuchel will be looking to exploit that.
So far the Bavarians understand that their form is no match for the Gunners. Judging by form, Arsenal takes the win flawlessly. But then looking at the caliber of players in the Bayern squad, it’ll be a close call. It’s believed that Bayern Munich has both the resources and experience to hurt Arsenal or even anyone.
This is not the first time the Bayern side has played in the quarterfinals over a long period. So the familiarity of playing in such a tie would be their companion. Thomas Tuchel will need to align his players in the right way to get the job done.
Bayern Munich and Tuchel’s Possible Tactical Approach
Bayern Munich will be looking to aim for Arsenal’s midfield. This is where the heavy workload is. Arsenal’s midfield is known for having quick progression into the wings. Where their midfielders will exchange possession between the wingers and fullbacks. This overloads the opponent’s flanks causing all sorts of problems. Joshua Kimmich along with Goreztka will be having a handful of work. Bayern will be looking to discomfort Arsenal in the middle before any progressive play. This might force Arsenal to play long balls. However, Arsenal have great wingers who are very dangerous on the counter. Tuchel will want his overlapping fullbacks to be wary of such a threat. Moreover, if the Job of discomforting the midfield works for them, Arsenal’s wingers will be deprived of chances. Bayern Munich can now break forward to punish the gunners on the counter. In all, Tuchel will urge his players to be careful and alert in order to get some results out of the Emirates.
More games to come
Bayern Munich will be facing Koln in the weekend. As it stands the league title is out of their reach, except some miracle happens. Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to make some strong statements before leaving the club with their last few games. Additionally, he’ll be hoping he can push the team as far as winning the Champions League. However, they’ll have to first start by overcoming the Gunners test.
