Aaron Ramsdale was signed by Arsenal in 2021. He came from Sheffield United. Before that, he was playing for Bournemouth in 2020 but became Mikel Arteta’s no. 1 goalkeeper for two seasons. Even with those doubts about Ramsdale, Mikel Arteta has claimed that it is a ‘big reality’ that Aaron Ramsdale is in Arsenal for the long haul.
Mikel Arteta States Arsenal’s Goalkeeper’s Transfer Is a ‘Big Reality’
The doubts that arose if Ramsdale would stay in Arsenal was when David Raya arrived from Brentford last summer. Mikel Arteta replaced Aaron Ramsdale as his no.1 goalkeeper for reasons best known to him. Some may assume it is because Raya was arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League the season before.
In addition, bearing in mind that Arsenal had targeted Raya for a long while. Arteta had tried to sign him while he was still playing for Brentford three years prior. Even though Raya has been on loan from Brentford since last summer, the move will likely be permanent. His deal will likely cost 27 million euros, and many believe that will be reason enough for Ramsdale to leave the Gunners.

With the recent events, Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with moving to Newcastle. On the other side, the Wolves were tracking him in January during that transfer window.
However, when Arteta was asked about Newcastle’s interest in Ramsdale, he said, “I’m not going to comment on those things”. When pressed further if there was any suggestion that Ramsdale could still play at the club next season, he answered, “Suggestion? There is a big reality that Aaron is here because he is our player and has a contract.”
Ramsdale contract with Arsenal started in May 2023, and it ends in the summer of 2026, with a possible extension of another 12 months.
