Andy Murray has been the world’s No.1 tennis player several times. But luck wasn’t on the Brit’s side in his latest match against Tomas Machac who had a 3-0 lead before the tie-break. However, Machac got a 5-7 7-5 7-6(7/5) win after three hours and 27 minutes, sending a frustrated Murray packing.
Murray made a crucial match-point save that caused the tie-break. Heavy downpour delayed the first set by 40 minutes as Murray scored his ninth point before the break, hence winning the set. The two battled it out in the second set and it almost ended in a tie-break. Nevertheless, Murray lost in the 12th game.
Fans’ Movements Irritate Andy Murray
Murray eventually lost the match to Machac and poured out his frustration to Carlos Bernardes for letting spectators move near the Butch Buchholz Court. The tennis star claimed that fans’ uncontrolled movements distracted him hence resulting in his serve loss late in the second set.
He shouted at Bernardes calling him “useless.” Bernardes replied on a low tune and infuriated Murray more. Surprisingly, Machac failed to win at 5-3 as he served two double faults. Murray had momentum but suddenly twisted his ankle after leveling at 5-5 as he approached the net.
A physiotherapist assessed his ankle and allowed him to continue playing. Murray’s serve after the injury scare earned him a match point and a 5-3 lead in their tie-break. Unfortunately, Machac garnered four consecutive points and ended Murray’s run.
Murray’s Family
Andy Murray revealed he was anticipating the end after losing his last singles game at the Miami Open. He stated that he plans to offer his best in the last several months of his career before he returns home.
The Brit beat Tomas Etcheverry and Matteo Berrettini in the ATP Masters 1000 event’s first two rounds. He aimed at extending his run in the Miami Open before yesterday’s game against Machac. Tables turned against Murray after the ankle roll as Machac defeated him in the third round.
Andy Murray’s Farewell and Tennis Home
The tennis legend waved fans goodbye as he bowed out of the Miami Open. He emotionally commented in a post-match conference that he wasn’t reminiscing about his past games as he faced Machac. Instead, he was sad that it was his last match in Miami and he considers it to be his “tennis home.” Andy Murray has spent most of the time in his career training and competing in the city.
Murray lost four consecutive matches in January. He later won a match in each of the next three competitions, having a 3-7 record when the Miami Open kicked off. This was the Brit’s first time to have consecutive victories since the August 2023 Canadian Open.
