The New Orleans Pelicans played the Orlando Magic tonight. It was a challenging game for the team as they ended each quarter behind the Magic. However, worse than this loss is seeing Brandon Ingram go down in the 3rd quarter, and he did not return. Ingram is a steady source of points for the Pelicans, so seeing him get injured is not a good sign. They currently sit in 5th place in the standings, but the race out west is a tight one. Having one of their stars go down could cause them issues in the future. Hopefully, the Pelicans, will receive good news about Ingram’s condition.

The New Orleans Pelicans are 3-2 in their last 5 games and 8-2 in their previous 10. Brandon Ingram is one of the top contributors to these team wins, whether it be from scoring or assist-making. The small forward is averaging 21 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. He is the team leader in assists and falls just behind Zion Williamson in points per game. With the playoffs coming up, it is essential that the Pelicans have all of their best players in good form. The last 10 games show that they are a solid team, and they can definitely win without Ingram. However, having him there as an option would put less stress on Williamson.
What Happens If Ingram Is Out
If Ingram is out for multiple games, the New Orleans Pelicans will look for certain players to step up. This obviously includes Zion Williamson, who is the face of their team. Also, look for CJ McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas to score a lot more if he is out. Trey Murphy III will most likely be the player to step up in the starting lineup for Ingram. Herbert Jones will probably shift into the forward position at this time. Murphy has been having a blazing hot season while starting and coming off the bench. He is averaging 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Furthermore, this won’t be his first time filling in for an injured teammate, so the Pelicans know he can handle the job.
New Orleans Pelicans Upcoming Schedule
The NBA regular season is almost over. Unfortunately, for the Pelicans, the end of their season will be a difficult one. They will be playing 3 top 6 teams in the next 13 games. Also, they will have to deal with the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and LA Lakers. All of these teams sit in the play-in but are still significant threats. Hopefully, Ingram’s injury will not sideline him for long. If he cannot make a return in the regular season, Pelicans fans can hope to see him come playoff time. This end of the season is going to be a bumpy road, especially if Ingram is on the bench.
