The Summer Olympics in Paris are on the horizon. Every four years, the Olympics take over the world as top-tier athletes go all-in to get their coveted Olympic medals. However, soccer is one of the few sports that take the Olympics to showcase a different angle. The men’s Olympics soccer draw has been revealed, and it is lit!
Soccer’s best competition is the FIFA World Cup, which is the tournament where national teams put all their stars on display. When it comes to the Olympics, soccer offers underdog stories and showcases the new breed of talent that will dominate the sport in a few years’ time.

We have 12 teams officially qualified for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, and four more are on their way. Group A is headlined by France, the host nation. They will have to welcome a promising USA team that will look to make the tables turn in their favor. The third nation in Group A will be New Zealand, who will be underdogs in pretty much every game they’re in. As for the final member of the group, it’ll come from the winner of the Guinea vs. Asian Zone Qualifier team.
As for Group B, World Cup winners Argentina and World Cup semifinalists Morocco will send their prospects to reignite their good outings at the highest level. They will have to overcome a tough Ukraine side ready to cause some disruption. The final member of the group will be the third representative from the Asian Football Confederation.
The third group features Asia’s second-best representative going against a powerhouse in Spain, as well as Egypt and Dominican Republic. Spain is the clear-cut favorite here, but Egypt wants to make history and maybe produce some more iconic players for their future in African competitions.
Last but not least, Group D seems to be the weakest of them all, but this means we could have tight, leveled matches. The intrigue is on. Paraguay, Mali, and Israel are waiting for the best Asian national team to complete their group.
Where Will the Action Take Place?
In Paris, duh! Jokes aside, Paris is a beautiful city, but the Summer Olympics were forced to include some other stadiums to be able to fulfill the plethora of events coming their way. Seven stadiums will host the soccer action for both men and women:
-
Parc des Princes, Paris
-
Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux
-
Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes
-
Stade de Lyon, Lyon
-
Stade de Marseille, Marseille
-
Stade de Nice, Nice
-
Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Saint-Etienne
Men’s Soccer Olympics Rules
As for what happens inside the field, the rules are the same. However, as mentioned before, this is NOT the World Cup but an opportunity to give new talent a global spotlight. The men’s soccer teams are made up of players either born January 1, 2001 or after, ensuring they are all 23 years old or younger. There’s a little help, though. Each national team can call 3 players older than 23 to help the youngsters out. In other words, out of the 18-men squad, 15 must be born in 2001 or later; the other three can be seen as the leaders and captains guiding them.
