Highsmith told the officer that the signal lights were not working. Pino got out of his vehicle late resulting in a collision that caused Pino’s leg to be crushed. He eventually had an amputation above the knee. Pino has taken action against Highsmith claiming that the basketball player was speeding, an allegation that Highsmith refutes.
