Bayern Munich may not be able to catch up with Bayern Leverkusen, but Harry Kane loves scoring goals. They have scored 73 goals this season with Harry Kane leading with 30 goals so far in 25 games. The record-breaking striker may not win the Bundesliga Cup this season, but he plans on breaking various individual records.
Kane proved that today when the team ran riot against the visitors at the Allianz Arena. The English striker may have scored a brace against Lazio on Tuesday, but today he surprised the fans with a trio and an assist.
Harry Kane Breaks a New Record
The Bavarians beat Koln 8-1 with Kane reaching 30 league goals. This means that he only needs to score 12 more goals to beat Lewandowski’s seasonal record with only 9 games left.
Currently, he is the second Bundesliga player to reach 30 goals in his debut season. The record was held by Uwe Seeler who scored 30 goals in the 1963-64 season.
Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller, Leon Goretzka, Kane, and Gnabry, helped the Bavarians reduce Leverkusen’s lead to 7 points. But they do have a game at hand and a win against Wolfsburg will restore their 10-point lead tomorrow.
Does Kane’s Hat-trick Count as a Bundesliga Hat-trick?
The Bundesliga is one of the world’s oldest leagues with the fewest number of hat-tricks. Sure, many players have scored 3 goals in a match, but most of them don’t count as a hat-trick in Germany. Confusing right? If he was in England, then he would have 4 hat-tricks by now, but in Germany things are different.
The Germans have a different definition of a hat trick. According to German regulations, a hat-trick refers to 3 uninterrupted goals in the same half. And in today’s win, Kane Harry managed to score 2 goals in the first half which means he is yet to get a real Bundesliga hat-trick.
If he had scored three goals before Nadiem Amiri’s goal, then it would have counted as one of Kane’s hat tricks. But if he was in other leagues, he would have a fourth hat-trick in his debut season. This doesn’t mean that the England captain isn’t wreaking havoc in Germany. He is currently the league’s top scorer followed by Serhou Guirassy.
His brace on Tuesday helped keep their Champions League dream alive and he is on his way to win his first Bundesliga golden boot. He is also on his way to dethroning Erling Halaad, last season’s winner of the European Golden Boot. His closest contender for the title is Lautaro Matinez with 23 and Mbappe with 21 goals.
