Before his upcoming match against Marlon “Chito” Vera, UFC Bantamweight Champion and mixed martial artist Sean O’Malley attended a press conference today held in Miami, FL. While answering questions from the media, he did not hold back when one of the reporters present asked him to weigh in on former interim lightweight champion boxer Ryan Garcia and his latest posts on social media.

UFC Bantamweight Champ Sean O’Malley was not afraid to mince words when a reporter asked for him to comment on former WBC interim lightweight champion boxer Ryan Garcia. “Cocaine’s a hell of a drug. I think he’s on drugs and he’s acting a fool,” the Bantamweight champ replied. “I feel bad for him more than anything.” The rivalry between the two skilled fighters has been building up for quite some time.
A Brief Timeline of Sean O’Malley and Ryan Garcia’s Beef
Garcia has expressed interest in fighting O’Malley on more than one occasion. He appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani back in February 2024 to boldly claim he’d hold his own against Suga Sean and that he has gone through the proper channels. “I will come with everything I have and I will destroy Sean O’Malley,” the former champion boxer stated. “I’ve already sent text messages to Dana[White, UFC President], I’ve already got people that are connected to Dana to ask him ‘let’s do it.'”
O’Malley responded back on his own podcast – The Timbo Sugar Show – alongside lightweight mixed martial artist Tim Welch. “Buddy. Brother. I would kill you within minutes,” he said on episode 274 of his podcast. “It’s just not even realistic. It’s crazy how stupid and delusional that is. I wonder if people think that when I call out boxers, though. Is that the same kind of thing? I mean, it is a little bit crazy when I call out boxers. A little bit. Not a ton.”
Is Ryan Garcia of Sound Mind and Body?
In the days since his informal invitation, Garcia alarmed many of his supporters and those close to him through recent social media posts he published which has led to many questioning his sanity. “MARCH 3 SUNDAY 2024 we slit RG THROAT AND THRU HIM IN A BASKET,” reads one message from his X account. The tweet goes on to state “NOBODY WILL FIND HIM BSABJANANANANANAJQKA ANAIQNANSBSNANABA A SNSNSNWKWNA S ANANSNSN SATAN SITTING AT THE TOP NOW. 666.”
According to screenshots shared by the Daily Mail, Ryan’s ex-wife, Andrea Celina, made a plea for Ryan’s health. “‘If all my followers who are believers can you please pray for Ryan,” Celina wrote in her Instagram story. “We are not together and I’ve been in contact with him and he may seem fine but he is not. I know in my heart he is being heavily oppressed.”
However, 3 days ago, on an Instagram post uploaded by Ryan’s father, Henry Garcia, he reassured Ryan’s fans and those concerned about him that he was simply “trolling the wrong way.”
