Furthermore, the veteran defensive back was due for a raise in 2024, which was set to be his last season. As he was set to count $12.8 million against the cap, his release saves the Lions $5.5 million, leaving them around $50 million in cap space this off-season.

Walker’s Career In The NFL
The Detroit Lions drafted Walker in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft. He was the number 82 draft pick out of Louisiana. Additionally, Walker previously signed a three-year contract which included a $25 million extension with the Lions in March of the 2022 offseason. However, his 2022 season was cut short after suffering an Achilles injury in week three. Therefore, this forced him to miss the remainder of the 2022 season.
