Layla and Natalya have had quite an interesting rivalry in WWE especially their battles within the new era of the Women’s Division. But as big as this was, nothing can compare to one of the more memorable episodes which offered Natalya her first WWE Divas Championship by pinning LayCool, Layla and Michelle McCool’s demonic tag team partner.
They came to a competition climax in WWE TLC 2010 where Natalya/Beth Phoenix challenged LayCool to a Women’s Tag Team Tables Match. Flash forward 14 years later, and while Layla, McCool, and Phoenix have since retired from wrestling, Natalya continues to compete at the elite level sharing the ring enthusiasm with the business.
Layla’s Admiration for Natalya’s Legacy
In an episode of the They Made Their Way to the Ring podcast, Layla spoke out saying that she has a lot of appreciation for Natalya’s accomplishments and that’s why she wants her to be awarded a place in the WWE Hall of Fame even when Layla is still wrestling. To quote Layla, Natalya has been sticking with WWE for so long not only representing herself well but also paying back the company. She mentioned that:
“Nattie is phenomenal. Her career is still flourishing because she is so giving. She is not just there for herself. She teaches. When she retires, I think she’ll be an agent for the women. She should because she is amazing for this business. She lives WWE and wrestling. She has so much more to give. She’s somebody that is friends with everybody.
“She gets along with everybody,” Layla said. She does deserve (to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame while active). I think she will get that. I do think she is one of the only ones that will get that. I do think she’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame before her career is over. She is great. She’s a legend. I have nothing but positive things to say about Nattie.”
Natalya’s Impact Beyond the Ring
Layla expanded on how Natalya impacts not only herself but also the ring’s success as well. She added that Natalya has been a role model and mentored the other talents. This is especially true for young women wrestlers as she has vast experience and knowledge to impart.
To Layla, this selflessness is one of the factors why Natalya deserves it when she is still active in the sport. As often with active superstars, WWE has a certain position regarding induction into the Hall of Fame, but according to Layla, Natalya can become one of those few who can rightfully claim this title. She said that Natalya deserves to be a legend of WWE due to her hard work and achievements in WWE rings as the fame of Natalya ornament the show.
Final Thoughts
This remains evident in Layla who has not ceased using the opportunity to remind fans and WWE in general how Natalya has left her imprint on the organization. She has a career that already spans over a decade and continues her work toward the development of women’s wrestling even now. Natalya has all the records and fans’ appreciation to become a part of the WWE Hall of Fame, and this could happen way sooner than everybody thinks, as per Layla.
