Mikel Arteta had spoken in a press conference ahead of Brighton’s game and he was able to confirm that two key players will not be available. The Gunners will host Brighton on Saturday in an early afternoon kick-off. It’s expected to be a tricky fixture for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Spanish Coach will hope his side can keep their cool and subdue the visitors. The Gunners have enough players and quality to deal with the Brighton team. However, Arsenal will also be wary and not careless in dealing with Brighton so they don’t get stunned.
Mikel Arteta On The Injuries

Arteta has confirmed that Gabriel Jesus and Mike Merino will miss the Brighton game due to fitness for the former and a new injury for the latter. Merino landed on the floor and Gabi went on top of him. The Arsenal manager said that he probably has a fracture.
“It’s very unfortunate. Yesterday he had a collision and got a shoulder injury. He’s going to be out for a few weeks. It’s really bad luck and we were all very excited… So we have to wait and see with the staff to do some more tests to have more conclusive answers.”
Arteta didn’t stop there though. There were more injuries to be addressed. He continued by addressing Gabriel Jesus’ fitness and talked about his muscle injury. Arteta said that Jesus is “progressing well” and that he expects him to return to action soon. Thankfully this is better news than Merino, who looks to have sustained a more serious injury.
Mikel Arteta On The Visitors
Arteta also talked about Brighton who has been in red-hot form at the start of the season. Brighton beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park and also beat Manchester United at their home. The coach spoke about his respect for the team. He talked about the importance of preparation and said the upcoming game against Brighton is going to be “a tough match.” Arteta said about his team’s performance,
“It’s been a big strength of ours, the commitment and education of every player and every ball and every single action. In those two games, indeed, we haven’t given much away, but the ones that we have given, they were pretty clear and our goalkeeper has made two big saves to give us clean sheets. So there are certainly things to improve, but I think overall the commitment of the team on that front is superb.”
Arsenal’s Attack
The Arsenal coach was asked whether his team’s attack is strong enough and said that one of the team’s strengths is their ability to share the wealth and have multiple players score. This will continue to be huge for the team’s success. Arsenal doesn’t have just one or two guys that can attack and score; they have multiple.
Arteta continued on about how he’ll make his players score more goals and bring clarity to the team. He emphasized putting the team in “better situations.” Arteta also said that the team can score in all sorts of different ways and that another way to increase scoring is to “make them hungrier.” We’ll see if these words said by Mikel Arteta have visual impacts on Arsenal in the upcoming matches.
