Nottingham Forest vs. Wolves: Preview

On Saturday afternoon, Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, will face his former team, Wolves, at the City Ground for a Premier League match. However, Forest was eliminated from the EFL Cup in the second round after a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Newcastle United on Wednesday, following a 1-1 draw.

Jota Silva scored a stunning volley on his debut to level the score, but missed penalties from Ibrahim Sangare and Taiwo Awoniyi cost them the game. Despite the cup exit, Nuno has found positives in his team’s performance and is focused on extending Forest’s unbeaten Premier League run. Forest last avoided defeat in their first three league games of a season in 1995-96 when they finished ninth.

Last season, the teams drew both of their encounters, including a thrilling 2-2 draw at the City Ground in April. Nottingham Forest began the new Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth but secured their first win with a 1-0 victory over Southampton last weekend, thanks to a goal from Morgan Gibbs-White.

Recent encounters have been tough for Forest against Wolves, with only one win in their last 11 league meetings—a 2-0 victory at Molineux in January 2018 while both teams were in the Championship. Wolves have yet to earn a point this season, losing their first two matches to Arsenal and Chelsea, the latter of which ended in a heavy 6-2 defeat. Wolves defend Albion. Despite a poor run in the Premier League, Wolves are unbeaten in their last six away games against Forest, with three wins and three draws.

Team News

Nottingham Forest will be missing midfielder Danilo, who is out until December with an ankle injury, and Ryan Yates is a doubt due to illness. New signing Alex Moreno, who made his debut in midweek, will compete for the left-back spot, while Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo may return to the center of defense. Gibbs-White, who was called up to the England squad, is expected to join Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga in attack alongside striker Chris Wood.

For Wolves, Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez (both knee injuries), and Leon Chiwone (ankle) remain sidelined, but Nelson Semedo is available after a three-match ban. Semedo may replace Pedro Lima, who made a strong debut recently. Yerson Mosquera and Toti Gomes are likely to return to center-back, with Guedes aiming for a starting role after his midweek performance. Hwang Hee-chan and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde could also be in contention for starting spots.
