Luis Diaz’s stellar display gave Liverpool their deserved win against Brentford. The Reds hosted Brentford in Arne Slot’s first game of the season at Anfield. Their premier game of the 24/25 season campaign, which was away to Ipswich saw them secure a hard-fought two-nil win. Wherein the goals came in the second half courtesy of Diogo Jota and Mohammed Salah. Against Brentford, it wasn’t much different, as the Reds delivered another two-nil victory.
Arne Slot arranged the same lineup he used against Ipswich, however except for Jarell Quansah who had a minor fitness challenge. The game started with Brentford proving to be very troublesome, however, Liverpool proved to be a better team.

The game started with Brentford showing a lot of aggression to hinder Liverpool from having a comfortable run of play. However, the Reds laid back and waited for them. A corner was poorly utilized by Brentford, allowing a deadly break for the home team. Diogo Jota held on to the pass and found Luis Diaz who calmly set the ball beyond Matt Flekken, giving Liverpool the lead.
Brentford tried to respond with different attacking threats. Norgaard had a header off the target after a set-piece situation. Liverpool also tested the away team’s defense, but a nice solid display kept the Reds from punishing them further.

Liverpool came in the second half looking more dangerous with chances from Jota, Salah, and Diaz being blocked. Also, Brentford tried responding with a blitzing attack from Mbeumo, but Van Dijk and Konate had anticipated, the challenge, closing him up quickly. Another Bees attack came with a corner that was received by a fine header. However, it was beautifully parried by Alisson.
The Merseyside club soon found the second breakthrough as Diaz frees up Salah in a one-on-one situation. The Egyptian had a first touch that nearly let him down, but he got to the ball and responded with a sublime finish. Liverpool could have made it three or four with Diaz having a dangerous shot sublimely saved by Flekken. And subsequently, the Colombian had a nice flick cleared by the Brentford defense. In the end, Arne Slot’s side proved dominant, by keeping a clean sheet and winning by two goals.

A lot of Liverpool players had a great performance, from the likes of Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and more. However, Luis Diaz had the best of performance for the Reds today. Despite the rumors surrounding him leaving the club, Diaz decided to remind the fans how valuable he was.
The Colombian had every one of his touches productive, from his passes down to his taken-ons. He had the highest chance of creation for the Reds which was 4. And his efforts were capped up with a goal and assist. The 27-year-old could have gotten a brace, but Flekken’s exceptional display prevented him. Notwithstanding his performance had helped the Reds win the game.
