Joe Rogan recently talked about the reigning champion of the middleweight division, known as Dricus du Plessis. Plessis won against Israel Adesanya in UFC 305 through submission and defended his middleweight title successfully. Dricus is now moving forward to fight other fighters in his division, so he can prove that he is the only fighter who deserves the title. The main event of UFC 305 took place in the city of Australia known as Perth, and Joe Rogan wasn’t there. But he shared his comments on the amazing fight between ‘Izzy’ and Dricus du Plessis and the possible upcoming fight with Dricus du Plessis.
Joe Rogan Impressed by Dricus
Though there were some tense moments for both fighters, du Plessis showed his usual toughness, enduring Adesanya’s attacks before striking back and ending the fight with a strong rear-naked choke. UFC commentator Joe Rogan wasn’t in Australia to cover the event because he doesn’t attend international matches, but he still saw du Plessis beat another opponent and stay undefeated in the UFC. He was impressed by the champion and said, “Dricus is a f**king animal.”
Joe Rogan made a UFC 305 Fight Companion podcast where he discussed different aspects of the fight. He seemed impressed by Dricus’s punches, saying, “He’s a f*cking animal. Holy shit. I was saying that those punches, even though he’s exhausted, you can’t be in those exchanges. You’re going to get clipped. If you get clipped, you’re in real trouble. F*ck, [Adesanya] got hit with those big right hands. He got rocked with those right hands.”
Upcoming Biggest Fight of UFC
The biggest fight for the current UFC middleweight champion might be a match against Alex Pereira, who hinted at possibly returning to 185 pounds after seeing Adesanya get defeated in the fourth round. Although du Plessis was open to the challenge, he suggested Pereira stay at his current weight as the UFC light heavyweight champion, and maybe they could face off there instead. Pereira had moved up to 205 pounds, mainly because cutting weight to fight at middleweight was exhausting for him.
Joe Rogan thinks that Dricus can also try to compete at light heavyweight; “[Du Plessis] could go to 205. Wouldn’t you love to see him try? He can take a shot, for sure. But can you take a shot from [Pereira], and can you take a shot from that guy at 205? Because that guy at 205 puts everybody at night. Everybody goes night-night.”
Final Thoughts
Dricus du Plessis has emerged as a great fighter in the middleweight division, and it’s time for him to test his technique, skills, and strength against different fighters. And Alex Pereira would be the perfect match for him. Fans. and Joe Rogan will be awaiting this match impatiently. What are your thoughts on Alex Pereria vs. Dricus du Plessis?
