“Well, let me tell you something I am going to enter the 2025 Royal Rumble, eliminate 29 other superstars, and etch my name in WrestleMania’s Main Event!” It sounds like a typical promo of any WWE superstar entering the Royal Rumble match coming up this week. The fan-favorite match is usually the site of surprise entrants, returning legends, and shocking returns, but fans can often narrow down the field of 30 to about 4 or 5 with a legit chance of winning.
This year’s Rumble may be the biggest in history, with one of the most former World Champions looking to headline the “Grandest Stage of Them All” WrestleMania! Who will win it all? Here are five superstars that could and should potentially win the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Main Event Jey Uso Wins Royal Rumble to Earn Nickname At WrestleMania
That’s right! Why not have Jey Uso earn his “Main Event” nickname by winning the Royal Rumble? He has main-evented the “Super Bowl” of wrestling as a tag team competitor with brother Jimmy, why not have the guy do it as a single? Jey’s entrance may be the biggest entrance in the business with the 8 Mile crowd participation. He is proving himself in the ring and is something like 0-6 in World Championship matches. Could they give me one more chance at Gunther, or could he restore the Bloodline by going after Cody? YEEEEEET!!
LA Takes the Indy Night by Winning Royal Rumble
This just in: LA Knight is still over like you sneaking into your high school girlfriend’s bedroom after curfew! The fact that this guy has not had more championship opportunities is mind-boggling. The mix between the Attitude Eras’ biggest stars, the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, has everyone asking, “Who’s game is it?” He could go greatly against Gunther on the mic or he could take a face vs face role against Cody Rhodes making the fans choose sides. Whatever the storyline is, LA Knight would make it an interesting angle. YEAH!
Uncle Howdy Shocks the World
Imagine how much Uncle Howdy would be elevated if he won the Royal Rumble! The Wyatt Sicks had one of the best and most creative debuts in wrestling history. The faction stemming from the late great Bray Wyatt has been underutilized ever since. Howdy could have the Sicks’ support to help him win. The physiological storyline he could have with Cody Rhodes leading up to Wrestlemania could be some of the best cinematical storytelling in wrestling history! The mind games would be epic, taking us back to some Undertaker and Bray Wyatt-type stuff.
The Best In the World Proves It In Rumble
It’s surprising CM Punk never won the Royal Rumble before he departed from the WWE. The Best in the World can prove it by outlasting 29 other competitors. This could also lead up to a main event that would make AEW fans “Go to Sleep” and witness an “American Nightmare!” Rhodes vs Punk never happened in AEW, and to see it as the main event at WrestleMania would be another ball that the WWE competitor dropped. Punk should also get into the title picture soon since he hasn’t been in it since returning “home.”
His Time is Up, Kross’ Time is Here
Karrion Kross has been the devil in superstars’ ears for months. Could he get a cult following that allows him to rise to the top of WWE? The leader of the Final Testament has an intriguing storyline that could be enhanced by his opportunity for a major title. It always works when you have a heel champion who leads a dominant group. Kross could be elevated to a main event player very easily and could make for good storytelling drama.
Final Thoughts
This year, it really does seem that WWE could go in so many directions. Does Roman win the Rumble to make it Rhodes vs Reigns 3? Does Cena win so he can end his farewell tour on top? Does the Rock enter and win to beat Mama Rhodes’s baby boy again? It is also a great opportunity to elevate a less-expected superstar to the next level. This match is made for someone to defy the odds so do it. Surprise your universe, have an angle we don’t expect as fans, and embrace the Netflix Era and platform! It is a perfect time to do something WWE fans have never seen before!
