3 Key Questions the Denver Broncos Must Answer for Victory Over the Seahawks

Denver Broncos set to kick off in opener

The Denver Broncos are one day away from kicking off the 2024 NFL regular season. There are many questions surrounding this team. Here are three things to consider as the Denver Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks tomorrow afternoon.

3. Will The Offensive Line Be Able To Establish A Run Game and Solid Pocket?

Head Coach Sean Payton has been saying all offseason that the best way for success as a rookie quarterback is to have a solid defense and a good running game. For Bo Nix to thrive as a rookie quarterback, the team needs a dominant defense and a powerful running game. The Denver Broncos have invested heavily in the offensive line, and now they have an opportunity to prove their value on Sunday afternoon. The Broncos season will largely depend on the offensive line’s performance.

2. Will The Denver Broncos Defense Stop The Run?

The run defense in 2023 was not what Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph was desiring. They ranked 30th in yards per game (137.1) and they gave up 150 yards in game six times. This must improve for the Denver Broncos to have any hope of winning on Sunday. Run defense isn’t just about the front; linebackers like Browning, Singleton, and Barton need to step up.

The Denver Broncos let Justin Simmons walk in free agency in the offseason and there was a sense the reason was because of his age or diminished value. The reason may be that his skillset was better for pass protection and they needed to have a more solid run defense. So, they picked up Brandon Jones from Miami to help stop the run.  It’s a full-team effort across all three levels of the defense.

1. How Will Bo Nix Perform In NFL Debut?

The question on everyone’s mind heading into this season is the success of rookie Bo Nix. With a solid preseason that showed his ability to run Sean Payton’s offense, can he carry the same poise and accuracy into the regular season? Nix has never seen the speed of 11 NFL starting defensive players for four quarters. How will he handle the debut? Will the moment be too big?  Will the speed be too much? Will he be able to recognize the complexities of Seattle’s defense?

He is not facing the “Legion of Boom” but he will be facing a task that he has never encountered before. The Broncos are Bo Nix’s team now. Will he be the next Elway or Manning or will he be the next Lynch or Wilson? As former Super Bowl 50-winning head coach Gary Kubiak says: “We’re fixin’ to find out.”

Conclusion

The Denver Broncos look to get back to the winning tradition that this organization and the city of Denver demand. It all starts this Sunday as the 2024 NFL season gets going. Will the Denver Broncos be another afterthought in the NFL or will they surprise and make a run to the playoffs? These three questions will largely determine if they will be a playoff contender or in the hunt for a top draft pick in 2025.
