Three Keys To Victory For Detroit Lions In Week 6

The Detroit Lions have an important game coming up.

For America’s Game of the Week, the 3-1 Detroit Lions will travel to Dallas to play the 3-2 Cowboys. Following an early bye week, the Detroit Lions took advantage of this time to get important players healthy and prepared for Dallas. They will likely be getting All-Pro center Frank Ragnow and Safety Brain Branch back for this game.

Despite missing two key defensive players, the Cowboys defense was excellent in their victory in Pittsburgh on Sunday night. The Cowboys will potentially be without Micah Parsons, so they will need to find a way to put pressure on Quarterback Jared Goff. Both teams will be slightly banged up, so this is expected to be a close game. If Detroit can accomplish these three goals, the Detroit Lions will be able to take revenge for what happened against Dallas last season.

Stop Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb

Ceedee Lamb will be the best wide receiver the Lions have faced all season, and the secondary has been a problem for the Detroit Lions. Given how frequently they pass the ball, the Cowboys are going to attempt to capitalize on a weak secondary. Despite their lackluster performances this season, Prescott and Lamb will look to turn things around and get back to how they were last year.

Terrion Arnold has to have his finest game of the season and limit his penalties because he will probably be playing most of the reps alongside Lamb. If the Lions want to win this game, preventing Lamb and Prescott from connecting will be a key part.

Establishing the Run Early

The Detroit Lions, who have been the NFL’s top run team, will want to establish the run game quickly. Running Backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery have both played very well this year. Given that the Cowboys allow about 153 running yards on 4.4 yards per carry per game, both should have excellent games.

Montgomery and Gibbs have both split carries this year, and both should be able to get hot right away. The return of Ragnow will provide the running back tandem with a strong offensive line to run behind, along with relieving Quarterback Jared Goff of some of the strain and preventing turnovers. Establishing a run game will be extremely important for the Lions to win this game.

Get Pressure On Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott will want to pass the ball a lot, thus applying pressure will make him have to make snap judgments that could not turn out well. This year, Aidan Hutchinson has performed admirably, and he should have another strong performance in this game. He needs to be all over Prescott the entire time, creating mayhem in each of the four quarters.

The majority of the snaps opposite Hutchinson will probably go to Josh Paschal and Levi Onwuzurike, so the Detroit Lions will need them to perform. Making Prescott make bad mistakes will be a big advantage to the Detroit Lions in winning this game and providing their offense with a short field.
