2025 NBA Three-Point Contest Participants Announced

Three-Point Contest

The 2025 Starry three-point field was announced on Friday. The field consists of New York Knicks Point Guard Jalen Brunson, Detroit Pistons Point Guard Cade Cunningham, Cleveland Cavaliers Point Guard Darius Garland, Miami Heat Point Guard Tyler Herro, Golden State Warriors Point Guard Buddy Hield, Brooklyn Nets Small Forward Cameron Johnson, Milwaukee Bucks Point Guard Damian Lillard, and Los Angeles Clippers Guard Norman Powell.

The three-point contest will take place on Saturday, February 15 in Chase Center. Chase Center is the home of the Golden State Warriors. Lillard is coming off two consecutive wins and Hield won the contest in 2020. Who will win the three-point contest this year?

How the Three-Point Contestants Stack Up?

Lillard and Hield hold the advantage as previous winners of this contest. Lillard is having a down season from downtown as he is 72nd in the league in three-point percentage. Hield is also not having a strong shooting season from deep. Brunson is the leader of the New York Knicks but is not known as a particularly lethal three-point shooter. Cunningham is also having a poor shooting season from downtown at only 35.4%.

Finally, we get to discuss some of the most lethal shooters in the league. Garland is the 11th-best three-point shooter in the league at 42.9%. Johnson is also known as one of the best shooters in the game. The numbers bore that out. Herro is also one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA and is having a career season for the new-look Miami Heat. Our breakdown of the field ends with the best shooter in the field, Powell. He is 10th in the league shooting a shade above 43% from deep.

Final Thoughts

When one analyzes the eight contestants in this year’s contest, it is slightly underwhelming. Many of these players are having down seasons from downtown. Even though that is the case, this year’s competition in Northern California can still enthrall viewers. With the Slam Dunk Contest being pushed to the backburner in recent years, the NBA Three-Point Contest has become the marquee event of All-Star Weekend. Hopefully the eight participants will be able to live up to those lofty expectations next week.
