AEW All In 2024 will take place on August 25th, 2024, and although the company has once again been successful in terms of distributing tickets, they had a better outcome in their first year at Wembley Stadium. So far, AEW has sold around 50,000 tickets with just a day left until the show. At All In 2023, over 70,000 fans attended their inaugural London show and it was the biggest wrestling crowd since WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
This is not an uncommon thing in wrestling, as locations are markets, and AEW going to London for the first time was going to sell better than them going the second. Unfortunately, there are multiple other reasons why All In has sold fewer tickets than in 2023, and it could be a declining trend.
Oversaturating the Market
Arguably the biggest reason AEW has sold fewer tickets for All In 2024 than 2023 was because it was their first time in London. Because of that, there was a bigger interest in the show and more fans were naturally going to attend that event. It also saw people come from all over Europe, as they hadn’t had a show anywhere on the continent up until that point.
Now, All In 2024 is the company’s third event in Europe and their second at Wembley Stadium. It’s also not the first time that the company is hosting the event, so the importance of the event does somewhat decrease. All In 2023 was the first of its kind in five years, and the first time the event was held under the AEW banner. With that being said, it’s not the only reason that the company has struggled to sell as many tickets.
Missing Multiple Top Stars That Were at All In 2023
Stars like Kenny Omega, Ricky Starks, Adam Cole, and Jay White were all present at All In 2023 but will not be competing at the event this time around. Most of these have to do with injuries, though the situation with Ricky Starks had to do with his contract expiring. However, even though this is the case, when tickets first went on sale fans were not aware that these specific wrestlers would not be at the event.
They did, though, know that both CM Punk and Sting would not be present at All In 2024, arguably the company’s two biggest stars. Punk was fired after the backstage events of the 2023 edition of the event, though he was likely the biggest draw for the attending fans. The Icon Sting retired at Revolution 2024 and was likely another top name that the London crowd came to see considering how much he has done in the sport. With neither of these wrestlers appearing at this year’s All-In, it makes sense as to why ticket sales have dropped.
AEW Will be a Colder Product in 2024
Another huge reason why All In 2024 has performed worse than the original event is because the product is not as hot as it was the year prior. This has a lot to do with top stars missing, but also due to fans getting tired of there being a lack of booking or direction within the company.
In August 2023, AEW Dynamite averaged around 871,000 viewers per show. This was a decent number considering that top stars such as CM Punk were showcased mostly on Collision. For comparison, Dynamite’s average viewership fell down to just over 700,000 in July 2024 and has dipped to under 700,000 for the first three weeks of August 2024. These ratings show that the interest for AEW has declined greatly, which plays a factor in the decrease in ticket sales.
Final Thoughts
Despite not performing as well as they did last year, 50,000+ fans is still an extremely impressive feat for a company that has only been around for five years. In 2025, AEW will not be returning to Wembley Stadium, which will result in more anticipation from the London crowd when they decide to come back in 2026.
