It is almost football time. Things are changing this season for the University of Cincinnati. After some conference realignments, they are part of the Big Twelve Football Conference this year. How will they fair against teams such as the University of Houston, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, and other teams stacked within the Big 12 Conference?
The time has come to take a look at how 2023 ended for the Bearcats, what changes have been made heading into 2024, and what the upcoming season will look like for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.
A Look Back on 2023

When it comes to football season, last season seems so long ago, and the upcoming season cannot get here fast enough. That feeling is only amplified for college football fans. Many thought that the University of Cincinnati would continue riding the high of making the College Football Playoffs in 2022 and transferring that momentum into the 2023 season.
That did not appear to be the case at all. Many would say that the 2022 team was beyond lucky and that 2023 showed that they never belonged among some of college football’s best teams. So what made the 2023 team look so much different than the season before, and will they be able to rebound for a second season under Coach Satterfield? If you look at the numbers, some of the categories actually improved from 2022.
The team’s 3rd down conversion percentage was a major improvement, whereas not so much on 4th down conversions. Statistics can change dramatically from season to season. Time to take a look at what we can expect from Coach Satterfield’s second season at the helm of University of Cincinnati football in the Big 12.
University of Cincinnati 2024 Outlook

Onto 2024 we go. Time to look ahead and not behind. Looking behind us leaves questions lingering of what went wrong but also begs the question of what can be changed going forward? First, the roster is changing because the University of Cincinnati saw some of its players declare for the NFL draft and get drafted to the big stage of football.
But on the flip side of that, UC saw a huge up tick in transfers to the school. So many that they are going to have a total of 27 new scholarship players on the roster. Cincinnati now has an additional 8 transfer players on the roster as of the beginning of June. This brings the entire total up to 47 (21 high school recruits and 26 transfer students). The entire 2023 offensive line is also making a full return to the UC football.
This bodes well for the school. New faces to embrace, which can lead to some pretty amazing changes from how the last couple of seasons went for Bearcats football. But with new faces, it also means that there can be challenges as well. Tempers can fly, teammates can clash, coaches can clash. Anything can happen in the world of college football.
Big 12 Conference Football

With UC now being a part of the Big 12 Football Conference, we have a chance to see them go head to head with some big-name schools that we have grown accustomed to seeing fall in and out of the NCAA Top 25 rankings each week throughout the season.
Will UC football have a chance to climb their way back into the rankings now that they are part of a “Power 5 Conference”? Does being in the Big 12 Conference give them that extra boost they need to prove they weren’t a fluke when they made it to the CFP just a couple of seasons ago?
UC Football has some pretty steep competition this season. It is going to be interesting to see how everyone melds together in the coming months, especially since UC Football has already had its spring game. Everything will play out as it needs to in the coming season.
Leaders will rise. Rankings will change weekly. Some things may remain the same. But one thing is for certain: UC Bearcats football is going to soar to newer heights this coming season.
