With six events from the regular season now in the past, the 2024 PFL Playoffs will begin on August 2.
Unlike the UFC, the PFL only consists of featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight, and women’s flyweight divisions. Only four fighters from each of its divisions make the playoffs, and the winner of each weight class is crowned the annual champion and wins the grand prize of $1 million.

Beginning in August, the 2024 PFL Playoffs will feature three fights from each division. Two fights will make up the first round, and the winner of each semi-final bout will meet the opposing side for the championship.
With the PFL wrapping up its regular season on June 28, the brackets for each weight class are now set.

2024 PFL Playoffs Schedule
With just four events left in 2024 for the PFL, the promotion will begin its playoff season on Aug. 2. The three first-round playoff events will be broadcasted on ESPN and ESPN+, with the final championship event on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

As of early July, the PFL has not announced a specific date for their PFL Championship event. For the past two years, the promotion has held its concluding event on Black Friday.
Defending Champions in the 2024 PFL Playoffs
Though the 2024 PFL season was its first following the inclusion of former Bellator fighters, five fighters from the 2023 playoffs are back to compete in this year’s tournament. Of them, only one — Impa Kasanganay — is a defending champion looking to secure another $1 million bonus check.
After losing to Raimond Magomedaliev in Eagle FC in 2022, Kasanganay went on a six-fight win streak that culminated with a PFL light heavyweight title win over Josh Silveira in November 2023. ‘Tshilobo’ then represented the organization in February at the PFL vs. Bellator event as a heavy underdog but fought tooth-and-nail with Johnny Eblen, narrowly losing a split decision.
With two more knockout wins in the 2024 season, Kasangany’s quest to become a back-to-back champion begins with a rematch of his 2023 championship win over Silveira. The first round of the light heavyweight playoff bracket will commence on Aug. 16, roughly two months after their last fight on June 21.
How Does the PFL Playoff Seeding Work?
Unlike the UFC and Bellator, the PFL follows a season format like most traditional sports, crowning a new champion each year. The season currently consists of two fights per participating athlete, and the qualifying top four fighters make their way into the single-elimination playoffs.
During the regular season, playoff eligibility is contingent on a point system that grades fighters based on their performance. The top four point scorers make the championship tournament, with the top overall point scorer given the top seed and the fourth-highest scorer being ranked as the fourth seed. The points are cumulative across the two regular-season fights.
The PFL season point system goes as follows:
- First-round finish: 6 points
- Second-round finish: 5 points
- Third-round finish: 4 points
- Decision win: 3 points
