2024 Paris Olympics: Team USA Lead Medal Count After Monday

Team USA, 2024 Paris Olympics

Team USA led the overall medal count when the 2024 Paris Olympics closed for the evening on Monday night. With more events every day that even GoldZone can’t keep track of, here are some of the more important results to keep you updated on all good things Team USA.

Over the weekend, Team USA men’s basketball dominated Serbia. The greatest gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, returned to the Games for the women’s team gymnastics competition, and Team USA Women’s soccer continued their march toward the medal rounds with another win in France.

On Monday in Paris, the men’s gymnastics team entered the day looking for their first team medal in 16 years. Meanwhile, the swimming competitions took the main stage for medals handed out as they often do in the early portion of the 2024 Paris Olympics just like they do at every Summer Games.

Asher Hong from Texas, Paul Juda from Illinois, Brody Malone from Georgia, and two athletes from Massachusetts, Stephen Nedoroscik and Frederick Richard, comprised the bronze-winning U.S. Men’s Gymnastics team that competed at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Stephen Nedoroscik became an internet darling straight out of the Peter Parker formula. An event specialist in Pommel horse, he was shown in solitude waiting for his chance to crush his opportunity at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Nedoroscik removed the black-rimmed glasses, chalked up his hands, and posted a team-high 14.866 score in his event to kickstart the USA celebration.

Japan claimed the gold medal in the men’s team gymnastics competition with a final score of 259.594 leaving China with the silver medal at 259.062. Team USA claimed the bronze with a score of 257.793.

US Women Take Two Medals in 400 Individual Medley

Swimmers Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant added two medals to the Team USA medal count in the 400-meter individual medley event on Monday in Paris, France. Canadian athlete Summer McIntosh is now a Summer Gold Medalist following a 4:27 swim to place first in the event. The Americans were the next two athletes to touch the wall at 4:33 and 4:34.

Legendary swimmer Katie Ledecky called Grimes the future of US swimming, Grimes claims her first Olympic medal of her career with the silver piece of the Effiel Tower. Weyant is now a two-time medalist after grabbing the bronze in Paris following a silver in the same event four years ago at the Tokyo Summer Games
