After going 10-7 in 2023, the Houston Texans should be able to repeat as AFC South division champs with Head Coach DeMeco Ryans and star Quarterback C.J. Stroud heading into this coming season.
It might be tougher in 2024, as the NFL gave them one of the more difficult schedules on paper, so this young team will have to prove themselves with more primetime games. However, if they at least repeat record-wise or improve upon it with a much better roster this year, they have a good shot at being one of the better teams in the NFL.
How will they fare in 2024?
Houston Texans: Easiest Stretch

The easier part of the Houston Texans schedule is the beginning of it. From Weeks 1-4, they should be favored or close to favored, even with them playing a division opponent away in Lucas Oil Stadium for the first week of the season against the Indianapolis Colts. They split the season series with them in 2023.
After that, the Texans have their home opener in NRG stadium against rookie Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears, who they also play in August for the Hall of Fame game at Canton, Ohio. Houston will also travel to Minnesota against the Vikings for Week 3, with either Sam Darnold or rookie J.J. McCarthy leading the team.
Week 4 is an interesting one at home, as their division games against the Jacksonville Jaguars always come down to the wire, as the Texans went 1-1 against them in 2023. Houston will play them again but away in Week 13 right before their late bye week in Week 14.
The Patriots game in New England for Week 6 and their other division games are matchups Houston will be the favorites and games the Texans should win if they are legit contenders. Those games include a game at home against the Colts in Week 8, a home game in Week 12 against the Titans, and the final regular season game against them in Week 18 in Tennessee.
The only division rival the Texans swept in 2023 was the Titans, as they are an improved team this offseason.
Houston Texans: Toughest Stretch

The Houston Texans have an overall challenging schedule, with the hardest part of their schedule for 2024 coming after their bye week playing three playoff teams. The three-game stretch from Week 15-17 will be a test to see if they are truly among the elite teams in the NFL, not just the AFC.
The Texans play the Miami Dolphins at home to then travel to Kansas City for a potential redemption game from the Wildcard last year against the Chiefs. Houston then gets another shot to beat a team they lost to in the playoffs with the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day at home. The Texans could get revenge in their building from their loss last season in the AFC divisional round.
A three-game span in the middle of the season from Weeks 9-11 is also not so easy, facing two playoff teams and one team that should be a contender in the AFC.
Last year, the Jets got the better of the Houston Texans in MetLife Stadium, as Houston returns to New York in Week 9, hopeful for revenge for Thursday Night Football. Week 10 is a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Detroit Lions at home and then Week 11 against the Cowboys for Monday Night Football at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Houston Texans: Important Games

The Houston Texans do get a few games that will be more of a toss-up on paper throughout the 2024 season, especially with the NFC North teams. Week 7 could be a pivot point, as they travel up to Green Bay to face a Packers that made the playoffs last year at Lambeau Field.
Week 5 should be a good one at home for Houston, as the Texans will play the Buffalo Bills, and Josh Allen will look to get his second win against the team (1-2 including the playoffs).
The Houston Texans have revamped the team, especially with the signing of edge rusher Danielle Hunter to pair with Will Anderson Jr. on defense. On offense, the trade of Stefon Diggs at wide receiver with Nico Collins, along with Tank Dell, and Joe Mixon are upgrades to their core group from 2023 and will benefit Stroud the most.
Their additions this offseason in free agency, through the draft, and with the trades they have made give them a potential Super Bowl within the next coming seasons.
