Today, the Denver Broncos broke ground on a $175 million facility slated for completion by training camp 2026.
Breaking Ground

The Walton-Penner group has shown that they are committed to the vision Carrie Walton Penner established for the Broncos: “The best team to play for, the best team to work for, and the best team to cheer for.”
Greg Penner, Owner/CEO, said today “This really gets at the first two of those. For the players, right now they have three different buildings they walk to. This is going to bring that all together, create a much larger locker room [and] upgrade the sports performance areas. I think, for the players, it’s going to be terrific. For the folks that work for us, we’re going to bring a lot of people down from the stadium that are working there. Getting everybody together in one building, we think, will create a more collaborative environment that helps us reach our goals.”
The organization is sparing no expense to return to the NFL‘s upper echelon. The Broncos have been left behind in standings and in their standing within the NFL community. Once a flagship of the NFL, the Broncos have recently been dwelling in facilities that mirror their on-field struggles. This new facility sets a new standard for how the ownership team expects everyone to operate. “We want to win on and off the field,” President Demani Leech said, “and off the field includes the facilities and things that we have — not just for our players but our staff and staff culture and morale.”
Trophy Room
The construction noise won’t just come from bulldozers and graders but also from the crack of helmets and shoulder pads as Sean Payton sets out to construct a roster that is worthy of the facility they will call home. Despite the excitement of the groundbreaking, it’s just noise if the team doesn’t live up to the existing facility’s legacy. Three Lombardi Trophies.
Super Bowls are the standard in Denver for the Broncos. New facilities, and possibly even a new stadium, are exciting but what the facility must have is a bigger trophy room. That room holds more significance than any locker room or steam room. That is the room that determines success or failure. The Broncos are synonymous with championships. It’s been far too long since the facilities were upgraded, and even longer since the roster saw improvement.
Team Construction
The team is young and it is hungry and it appears as if there is a blueprint for success. Now it is in the hands of the architect of this, Sean Payton, to construct a champion. Let us see if it is all window dressing or if there is a solid foundation upon which championships are paraded in the streets of Denver, Colorado.
Go ahead and build the greatest facility, Mr. Penner. Go ahead and build a new stadium while you’re at it. What the people of Denver want is for you to build a team that is not only the “Best team to play for. The best team to Work for. And the best team to cheer for.” Construct the best team.
