The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony is dawn upon us, as players from different clubs and countries vie for the prestigious award of the best player in the world. Couple with this award are other prestigious ones given to players who have thrived in certain areas of the game.

The 2023 Ballon d’Or saw Lionel Messi win it ahead of Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe. The Argentine had captained his nation to securing the 2022 Qatar World and also the 2022 Copa America. The winning of the award marked the eighth time the Argentine won it, making him the highest in all history, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo who has won it five times.

This year the 37-year-old was unable to make the list, however, there are tons of interesting names in the top 30. Here are some interesting facts about the prestigious award.

Details of the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony

The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held on Monday the 28th of October. It’s expected that the program will start by 8 p.m. CEST in France. France being an hour ahead of the UK, the program is meant to start at 7 p.m. in the UK. While for those in the United States operating at (ET), the program will start by 2 p.m.

For the location, The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris France.

Awards to be Presented

Aside from the Ballon d’Or itself, numerous additional awards will be given at the Ceremony.

The awards are the Ballon d’Or Féminin, the Kopa Trophy (this is given to the best under-21 player of the year), and the Yashin Trophy (This award is given to the best goalkeeper). Some other awards that’ll be handed out in the ceremony include the Gerd Müller Trophy, the Sócrates Award, and separate prizes for the Men’s and Women’s Club and Coach of the Year
