There has been a lot to love about the new era of WWE, with better booking, high-quality production, and international shows. However, as good as the creative direction of Triple H has been, it hasn’t been a fruitful time for everyone on the wrestling roster.
Some wrestlers on both RAW and SmackDown have been booked poorly, left with nothing to do creatively, and overall feel forgotten by the chief content officer. Despite some of these names featuring here and there, it feels like they are just there to put others over or to fill up empty spots without doing anything of substance.
Notable examples
Cedric Alexander was picked up by Triple H after the Cruiserweight Classic and had a good stint in the group known as the Hurt Business. But his eight-year tenure in WWE has been a story of lost opportunities. In 2024, he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and got annihilated by Bron Breakker. He is now associated with Ashantee Adonis, but they have not achieved anything in the tag team category.
Apollo Crews went back to NXT for a touch-up, but his time there was not fruitful. He was promoted to the main roster in 2024 and has not achieved much on SmackDown since the draft. Other than sharing a pseudo-relationship with Baron Corbin, Crews has been all but completely written off.
Dragon Lee was built up as a big signing for WWE, and his initial run in NXT was fine. However, after getting to the main roster, the pace has considerably dropped. Stating that he has been under the wing of Rey Mysterio and part of the LWO has not helped him at all. He was not even included in WrestleMania, and since then, he has been just a mere jobber on the main RAW and Main Event shows.
Odyssey Jones was promoted to the main roster in 2023 to the RAW brand after doing little in NXT, and he never made even a single appearance. Although he was recruited to RAW, he has only wrestled in SmackDown dark circuits and some live events. He has not been involved in WWE in any way for months now, as far as wrestling events are concerned.
Tag teams and forgotten giants
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows came back to the WWE under the Triple H regime but have not been made to look like a force in the tag team division. Their recent appearances in NXT have seemed like an afterthought or a way to give them something to do.
Triple H overlooked Giovanni Vinci, who was also part of the tag team division as a part of Imperium but was recently kicked out of the group. Since then, he has been off WWE television screens, and although he was drafted to SmackDown, he has not been seen.
In Hit Row, too, Ashantee Adonis was not exactly lighting up the WWE and making the world stand up and notice. When Top Dolla was released and B-Fab was associated with The Pride, Adonis was left with almost nothing. He has had only one televised match in the past year.
Omos has not been involved in any storyline, but he is involved in battle royals and live events. This year, it was said that WWE was expecting the right opponent or program, but there was no progress on his status.
Overlooked talent
Tegan Nox had a good NXT run, but since she was repackaged and brought back to WWE under the current leadership, she has been completely forgotten. She has been more involved in live events in 2024 and has been off TV despite a good in-ring performance.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are seen on WWE programming frequently, but they are treated like jobbers under Triple H. Although The New Day is the most successful tag team in history, their feuds in 2024 are pathetic, which makes them look like a shadow of themselves.
